The first official review is in by the famed director Guillermo Del Toro who said:

“A staggering achievement,” is chockfull of majestic Vistas and emotions at an epic, epic scale. A master at the peak of his powers…”

FYI they are great friends lol

Spielberg's first response to TPM was "oh my god".

We now know what he meant :lol

I recently read some Cameron interview about this where he was talking about how Worthington's character was going to set aside his badass ways and show us what it means to become a father and mentor of his clan.

He was going on about how regular superheroes "never hung up the cape" and showed us that they could be wise and nurturing, etc. But that here we were going to see how heroes could become family men.

Sounds absolutely riveting, no?

This is gonna crash and burn harder than the Challenger. Special effects are NOT ENOUGH.

He also said: " I always think of (testosterone) as a toxin that you have to slowly work out of your system.", so this aligns a bit with what you wrote.

Personally, I think testosterone is essential for masculinity and isn't a poison, but each to their own I guess.

Cameron has an excellent track record and and I liked the first movie, so I'm hoping for the best.

How can you even have masculinity without testosterone, that is sheer ridiculousness to say otherwise. Im not expecting men to go around breaking stacks of concrete paving stones with their foreheads every day, but come on now.

I hope for fans' sake this movie isnt bad, but watching a guy help his kids navigate those stormy teenage years does not seem like barnburner movie material. Maybe I will be wrong.....

Avatar Way of Water

In the movie narrator's voice...

This winter: 'One stay-at-home blue man changes the diapers, cleans the toilet, makes dinner...all while finding the time...too save the planet...again...from the oppressive colonial invaders from another planet...all while staying dry...and looking mostly masculine...mostly...'

You remember those blue tall aliens right? We’ll get ready for to watch them again but now they’ll be swimming instead of flying .

Now with less alien *** that you perverts seemed to love in the first film.

For all of Cameron's seething towards Star Wars and Marvel, it's hilarious that both have vastly superior races of blue skinned aliens in the Chiss and the Kree. And speaking of the Kree, my man Ronan was done so dirty in the MCU. They took Crystal from him in the books, then killed him. And in the MCU they got a great actor like Lee Pace and wasted him in typical fashion. I'm still angry about it. Man, Lee Pace would've made such a great Kang. It's honestly how I'm watching Foundation; I'm pretending "Empire" are Iron Land, Kang and Immortus all ruling at the same time. The fact that the Emperor is named Cleon and has a quasi-Pharaohic mottif makes it work too. It makes the show so much grander and allows me to pretend I'm seeing "Kang" in a form I like.

Does that make toxic masculinity a tautology?

Testosterone is essential for *** drive and, by extension, the survival of the species.

Maybe it's the lack of bona fide blockbusters lately, but I'm actually looking forward to this.

Any reviews yet? Our local movie critic said its getting high praise from the screening... but he felt it was too long (too many actions scenes, which doesn't sound bad to me -- unless they're the same thing over and over).

I've got tickets for opening night here in Aus in 3D in the 4DX cinema. I enjoyed the original film, so I'm looking forward to this one.

The guy from "Film Threat" that usually hates everything saw the screening. He said he really liked it despite it being too long, having too many endings, and having terrible dialogue.

He predicted that it would be a hug hit like "Top Gun Maverick" cause it's just a no-nonsense popcorn movie and he also thinks kids are gonna love it. Despite the flaws he said he couldn't wait to see it again. Apparently the underwater stuff is great and makes the Nah-mooooor stuff in Black Panther look like a sad joke.

Here's his spoiler-free first impressions:

Yeah, I don;t think anyone here didn't think this would be huge... just huge and bad. If its good, that's great. Got to give it to Cameron. Still, we'll see. It's a bit like waiting for Indy.

Now if it IS good, can he do that 3 more times every couple years?

And can it top the first one at the box office...?
