I know I'm overthinking things.

It's still supposed to be a family friendly movie, so I'm sure Cameron won't get into the specifics about Navi reproduction, but he's probably got it all worked out. Hell, there's probably a website somewhere devoted to it but I don't want that in my search history.

If they're anything at all like mammals, then the father has to pass on his DNA. Assuming they even built reproductive capabilities into their homegrown Navi bodies, wouldn't that mean all these kids are really Sully's BROTHER'S kids?? Yes, they were twins, but there's genetic differences in the DNA of twins....right? Or no? I'm clearly not a geneticist.

Just saw it. I absolutely loved it. The HFR was truly astounding, which is one area I was a bit dubious about. You can really see where the money went. Really enjoyed the strong family dynamic and it’s nice to see a positive, strong father figure in a major Hollywood film in this day and age. Definitely sets up future sequels.

I think the lack of "agenda" in Maverick was a major contributor to its mammoth success; just good old fashioned entertainment told well.

So if the "strong father figure" and lack of "the message" are key elements in Avatar, maybe it will do really well?

Curious to see its box office journey now - even though I won't be personally contributing to it earnings.

There's still the "evil colonists" and environmental tropes which may not play as well these days. And Cameron has been banging on about the endangered Great Barrier Reef.

Yeah, that ecological storyline seems inherent in the visuals so no need to hit that key very often -- but knowing Cameron, it is a song he keeps playing throughout with a full orchestra.

The many repeat stories seem so obvious that it is one of the reasons I don't want to sit through the 3-hour "epic". I'm sure the visuals are great... but I'm at an age where I get bored at Disneyland after a couple hours. I can peruse the Art Of book if I want to admire them in depth.

Since this movie seems like a complete repeat of all the motifs of the first, it really has no reason to be 3-hours. A sleek and fast-paced 2 hours would have made this a better film (since everyone, even those that like it, say its too long) and allowed for even more theatrical showings.

Got my tickets to see it this weekend in Dolby 3D. I figure it's a "theater or never" type of joint and while I'd normally choose never, Cameron's visuals are usually pretty boundary-pushing.

He's also been banging on about testosterone and how it's a toxin you need to weed out of you body :slap

It's that same testosterone that made him what he is today. Mess of a man.

WHAT? WTF? The King of Blue Collar Grunts!? The Macho Maestro who delivered Terminator, Aliens Marines, Abyss' literal "blue"-collars, and so much more?

Hy-po-crit!!!

It’s like Scarjo now complaining that Hollywood only cared about sexualizing her and never cared to truly ask her what her internal artistic passions were so they set her off on a rigid path of T&A.

Scarjo is writing how hollywood destroyed her worth as a women from you guessed it her 25 million dollar home in the hollywood hills. :slap

Good thing Bette Davis was a super hottie she would’ve never went anywhere with her acting career in Hollywood lol

Banging on about the Great Barrier Reef? You're talking as if it isn't a huge ecological disaster. What do you care about in your world? Just your own little life I suppose. Going to the movies and buying your dollies?

Humans have obviously poisoned the earth and created what is known as cancer and i’m sure all of these earthquakes have nothing to do with detonating nukes underground nahhhh why would it that shockwave vibration is harmless.

Acknowledgment is not the problem.

The problem is the main contributors will not be forced to contribute towards a solution and the entire bill is being given to only 1/4 of the polluters while the other 3/4 get away scott free from their responsibilities.

Just be fair about paying for it that’s all.

I admit that wasn't phrased well. The Reef's in my backyard so I'm well aware of the situation.

Just pointing out that the franchise isn't totally agenda-free - and not even saying that's a bad thing.

(Though I *do* tend to tune out when celebs "bang on" about social issues - even if I agree with them.)

I'm pretty sure no one in the medical field, male or female, would casually vilify testosterone the way the rest of the culture has. Nor would they vilify estrogen. These are hormones that serve very necessary functions in all of us. Too little is a problem, too much is a problem, but to personify and "judge" the hormone itself demonstrates not only a lack of emotional maturity, but a lack of scientific understanding. The irony is many people who do this fancy themselves scientifically or logically minded. Being an ass____ isn't a biological issue.
