If she really was such and inconvenience they should have killed her off in Thor 2. They had the perfect excuse and it would have gone great with the plot.

I think she was just written as an uninteresting character from the start. They can only go so far with the "astro physicist" thing. I wouldve liked her original nurse design. Didnt help that she wasn't a well written character in the films and didnt use ANY of Portman's acting ability.

She was used to appeal to a demographic to make more money for the studio as recommended by a marketing focus group.
...or one stupid studio Exec.
...or one lazy screenwriter.

I actually quite like Jane. I like her as a physicist, and don't think having her as a nurse would've been an improvement to her character. I loved Thor/Jane in the first movie. I like both Jane and Darcy. I personally feel Jane was a bit wasted in TDW as the damsel in distress. And I think TDW was a bit of a mess and probably fortunate enough to turn out as solid as it did considering all the behind the scenes stuff I've read about, but I don't think it was the fault/problem of any one character

As much as I love Sif, I've always been cool with Thor/Jane, and hope that if they need to write her character out that they don't do it in a lazy way that demeans the character, nor kill her off (not a fan of 'fridging' love interests). Having Sif, Jane and Darcy is great in my book - what it comes down to is the writing and usage of the characters. And I think all of the characters minus Loki and ****** (and probably Odin) fared better in the writing department in the first Thor.

Hoping that this "break up" off screen stuff for AOU isn't true - they should have used TDW to split the couple if the knew they couldn't get Portman back. This would just feel really, really cheap given the emphasis on their relationship in the first two Thor movies and given where we left off in TDW.

What I don't like the most about MCU Jane is how gaga she is for Thor. Bugs the hell out of me as she wasn't ever like that. Kinda why I wish they went with nurse/EMT Jane. I know it's a different universe but meh. Fanboy nitpicking

They still could have made her "starstruck" though, even if she'd been a nurse.

I thought it was cute how she reacted to Thor. Maybe I'm thinking of my girl friends and how they would react if a Norse 'God' practically fell into their laps from the sky. :lol I'm not even a Thor girl myself but I can't say I wouldn't get it.

I was never a reader of Thor comics, so I admit that I don't know too much about comic Jane.

The thing is, to my understanding, Thor's love for the human race was started by seeing Jane endangering herself to help save people as a nurse even tho is unpowered very vulnerable person. She inspires Thor, I never got that in the movies. It seems to me she just always gets into trouble and she puts herself there.

Could not have said that better myself.

I'd prefer Sif to have a larger role so I don't mind if Jane has to go to make that happen.

I don't want Thor dating Sif though either... I'd prefer him single and they have Enchantress in Thor 3 as a villain/love interest.

Awww man...I'm bummed to see Thor's costume is relatively the same. It still looks awesome and fits the character but I wish they went a slightly different route like the "Ultimates" costume I posted. Considering Thor has been "on Earth" since 'The Dark World' ending, he could've adjusted a little to human and modern-eque life and perhaps changed the outfit as well.

It looks like the Avengers will finally be an "official" team separate from SHIELD. Probably financed by Tony Stark and others... hence why we see the "A" logo in the building and they have these 'recruits'. Or perhaps aside from the "core" team, this is a way of "rebuilding" SHIELD without the HYDRA corruption? Avengers West Coast??? Force Works??? :lol

The AoU Thor suit is the same as the TDW but with silver instead of that dull gold.

I would rather they utilize both female characters than it be an either or in terms of screen time, but with Portman as Jane I do expect Jane will be written out at some point. I hate that Sif (and the Warriors 3 for that matter) has been really underused.

All the AOU behind the scenes pics today!!! :thud:

And the report/rumor that FALCON was seen. That one right there I DO hope is true. :yess:

I think the Avengers recruits sounds stupid... but I guess it's an easy way for them to introduce Ms Marvel, Black Panther and other heroes for sequels.
