Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

Surely they're not going to have a phase II that doesn't include the Hulk and then just have him pop up in Avengers 2.

We're pretty much guaranteed to see either him, Banner or both before then.

I think it's smart.

Hulk was used in just the right dosage in Avengers IMO. Less is more, leave him for Avengers 2, it'll serve them well.

Nah, he needs his own movie now that they know how to handle him.

Yupp.

Gonna need that bad boy to spank that Darkseid ripoff dude :lol

Shouldn't you be fawning over your 7th viewing of the Nolancompoop's equivalent of Edward from Twilight?

Thanos is a Darkseid ripoff in the same way that Star Wars ripped off Flash Gordon. When one is far superior to the other nobody cares which came first.

Nah, it's a bit closer than that, Khev. :nono :lol

But Void's just hating because TDKR wasn't as successful. :rotfl

Bullcrap. Thanos is a rip-off because Jack Kirby got tired of the grandstanding Stan Lee taking all the credit for everything and Marvel squeezing him on dollars, so he defected to DC and created The New Gods cosmic line of stories and characters before anyone else was doing that kind of stuff. It was successful and Darkseid was the obvious standout. Marvel's response was to get Jim Starlin to shamelessly rip him off... kicking off a flurry of F-Yous to Kirby that continue to this day.

Of course, if Lee had half the balls or was half the artist or actual creator Kirby was he could have just ripped off Darkseid himself instead of hiring a lacky to do it.

Now, Thanos is cool. But he's absolutely a rip off character and was absolutely created for all the wrong reasons. And it's nothing at all like Flash Gordon --> Star Wars.

I think you mistake the difference between crying and ranting. :lol

BTW, I posted the facts of the matter. :lecture

If Marvel pulled a blatant rip off this week it could almost pass as a rant. But, 40 year old news...

but good job on finding these incredible facts that are all over the interent, Batman is no longer the world's greatest detective. :clap

Eh, ok. Good trolling effort, though.

Irish, he was not my padawan. :nono :lol
Oh, I know. Even your most "extreme" blasts at other posters at least have a point that's relevant to the topic at hand and not simply ad homimen. :lol

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

Avengers is a Hulk movie so I guess Avengers 2 will be the same.

I wonder if he'll pop up in one of the other movies in the meantime.

I almost think he has to.

What's odd, though, is that Marvel already announced that Ruffalo is signed for several more films, including standalone Hulk movies. Yet there is apparently no HULK flick in Phase 2... just Avengers 2 and likely cameos in others.

But, that's fine. It can work.

Yeah but as far as the character is concerned it's quite literally "history." Nosferatu, Battlestar Galactica, Thanos. All ripoffs with their own freestanding identities now. It is an interesting aspect of his origin but really quite trivial in this day and age.

But Void's just hating because TDKR wasn't as successful. :rotfl

Ah, I see. I'm sure we'll be reminded of that by every other DC fan when Avengers 2 finally hits theaters. :lol ;)

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

Sorry, I wasn't aware there was a Statute of Limitations on this stuff. :lol

I leave this discussion now...

Maybe I'm just too tired, but I've read this over and over Khev and I must be missing something, can you expand on the Nosferatu BSG Thanos triangle? I even googled the three of them together to see if I was overlooking somethign obvious. :dunno

I don't know, it's like when someone acts like they're "blowing a whistle" by educating everyone that Christmas trees and Easter bunnies are NOT dun, dun, dun, from the Bible and instead have their origins in pagan rituals.

Yeah. We know. But that's not what they mean anymore. We like light-up trees, egg hiding bunnies and big cool guys named Thanos. The end.

Nosferatu was an unofficial (and illegal) Dracula production, BSG was sued (IIRC) for ripping off Star Wars, and then there's Thanos and Darkseid. I was just lumping them all together as derivitave works with dubious origins that have since transcended such distinctions.

No wonder I didn't get any good hits from googling "nosferatu battlestar Thanos" :thud:
