Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

I don't know, it's like when someone acts like they're "blowing a whistle" by educating everyone that Christmas trees and Easter bunnies are NOT dun, dun, dun, from the Bible and instead have their origins in pagan rituals.

YOU BASTARD! :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

I agree. Thanos was and began as a rip off of Darkseid, but he has an incredibly different identity now than before. He's still a rip off, but his characterization evolved over time to something unique.

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

After watching TDKR in IMAX now I regret not catching Avengers that way. It must have been awesome. Bummer that those supposed rumors about it being re-released (possibly with extra footage) in theaters to promote the blu-ray appear to have been false.

Yeah. We know. But that's not what they mean anymore. We like light-up trees, egg hiding bunnies and big cool guys named Thanos. The end.

:lol :lol :rotfl:lol

Nah, it wasn't shot in IMAX. Thats why TDKR looked so good. Basically everything but dialogue scenes were shot in Imax. Avengers wasn't even shot in 3D let alone Imax. Seems pointless to me to see it in a format it wasn't shot it let alone gimmicked into another format it wasn't shot in :slap

I am disapointed about the lack of a rerelease though. But hey, Indy is coming out in just a few weeks without much notice. Still a chance the Avengers could pull something like that. Come on #1 grossing movie of all time!

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

I'm too disappointed there was no re-release push to hype the DVD. I suppose there is time yet. Perhaps Labor Day weekend?

For bigger films, studios will sometimes boost there theater counts by several hundred screens for either last second profits toward the end of its run or as I said, help boost DVD sales prior to the DVD release date.

If Disney still does this, maybe TA will finish around 620 Million domestically.

There's always hope for a re-release if it gets an Oscar nod too.

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

Oscard nod? You mean for visual effects right? I hope no one could possibly think this is even deserving of a best pic nomination.

Well, I doubt it will, compared to some of the ones that were nominated in the past, it wouldn't bother me.

There's plenty of buzz about The Dark Knight Rises possibly getting a nod.

How did Moneyball get nominated last year?

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

Though it would never win, I would like seeing it get a nod.

I think it will to be honest. It made so much money I'd be fairly surprised if it and TDKR didn't get nominated. Especially with the fact they now nominate 10 films.

With them opening up the nominees to 10, don't be surprised in the least if Avengers and TDKR get best picture nods.

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

You know what would really make these boards fun? If Avengers gets nominated, but not TDKR. Or vice versa. But especially the former.

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

:lol I'm looking forward to next summer when everyone realises how mediocre both movies are, but at least Avengers was fun.

Re: The Avengers 2 (May 1st, 2015)

For its genre, Avengers was better than just mediocre. It's certainly one of the best superhero movies yet.

Both The Avengers and TDKR are absolutely in the top 3 of all superhero movies ever made.

The letterboxed TKDR scenes that weren't native IMAX still looked amazing on the giant screen. I imagine that would have translated equally well for The Avengers. It was actually being forced to watch it in converted 3D that kept me away.

Much better than mediocre

Both The Avengers and TDKR are absolutely in the top 3 of all superhero movies ever made.

Avengers I agree with TDKR not even close. IMO not even the best of its own trilogy.
