What reason could there possibly be for Iron Man to fight the HULK at this point in the story. Stark and Banner are best buddies now. They already used the "mind control" (Loki's scepter influence) on Avengers... so that's already played out. I'm thinking maybe Ultron took control over the suit? What do you guys think?

I think that's the most likely. Other than that, maybe it's a quick field test of the suit and it's more or less a sparring scene.

Also, it could be like the comics where the Hulk is enraged for some reason and has to be taken down. Not like that's never happened.

Hot toys should do the hulkbuster suit as a build a figure with the parts being in the avengers 2 figure releases. Drive those sales, baby.

People can't even pop on and off wrist pegs that come with assembled figures without breaking them. A BAF would be a QC nightmare for HT with the entitlement generation blaming HT for their abusive handling and inability to read instructions.

Hulk and Banner don't share the same consciousness though. So maybe Hulk is causing too much damage and IM tries to stop him, which gets Hulk's attention the same way Thor did.

Saying they're 'best buddies' is taking it too far. They're both scientists but after that their interests vary quite a bit. Stark is self centered, his priority in life is protecting Pepper.

I could see SHIELD asking Stark to design a Hulkbuster suit as a precautionary measure since Hulk is basically a loose cannon. Maybe Banner finds out about it and he gets angry with SHIELD and the Avengers after helping them fight off Loki in New York.

Whatever the reason is, I still feel the Avengers 2 film will end with Hulk being banished from Earth and ending up on another planet - cue a solo Planet Hulk film

I think it's too early to put the big guy in space. Maybe at the end of Avengers 3.

Looking at the rumored lineup I don't think a Planet Hulk film is possible in Phase 3

July 2015 - Ant-Man (confirmed)
May 2016 - Captain America 3 (confirmed)
July 2016 - Doctor Strange
May 2017 - Thor 3
Late 2017 - Guardians of the Galaxy 2
May 2018 - The Avengers 3

For a Planet Hulk film to happen the Illuminati needs to be formed. We atleast need to see Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and hopefully Blackbolt (Hopefully in an Inhumans movie).

^ I actually see Ms Marvel as a greater possibility than GotG 2 for 2017. I do wish they push Thor 3 to Phase 4 and have either a second Hulk solo or Black Panther in that slot. Phase 3 seems a bit premature for the Ragnarok arc.

But, from a risk management perspective, I get why they'd want to have 2 established franchise sequels in Phase 3.

Maybe Tony Stark creates all this mess and is the bad guy, in the last movie he could not be controlled by Loki because he aimed at his arc reactor, without it he would have been lethal. There is more pictures of the arm in props in movie so it seems like the armor might have more screen time. In all event, Ultron, Vision, which is crazy since I think everything that Tony Stark made will be against them. In all reality I am curious now!!! Definitely will start saving money for all these 1/6 scale figures.

Even if they were best friends, it's not like Hulk still couldn't go on a rampage. It's happened in the comics. Look at what happened to Vegas right before Planet Hulk.

Why would he act like a loose cannon now? I could see if they had Stark fight the Hulk in the first movie, but I doesn't make much sense to ME, to make them duke it out in the Avengers 2. Mind you, I'm sure they will come up with some good reason for it and to be really honest I don't even care what that reason is. All that matters is that we get to see Iron Man on the Hulk Buster armor fight the Hulk (ON IMAX).

True, it should look good no matter why.

But Hulk is anger personified. He WILL lose control at some point. Though he was presented somewhat differently in the Avengers than he was in the first 2 Hulk movies, and much different than in the comics, he's still Hulk, and he's always going to be a threat in some way.

I don't like the idea that he might be under anyone's control since that was such a big part of the first movie. It'd seem cheap and easy.
It will probably be made clear that Stark began designing a Hulkbuster suit long before he made his other bajillion Iron Man suits of the last 2 movies, and has had it perfected and on standby for whenever Hulk goes on a rampage for whatever reason in this new one.

Hulk can never be controlled, as shown in The Incredible Hulk, he can be "aimed".
