Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

With the "alternate dimensions" thing, I want Tobey Spidey to kill and replace Holland - which would explain why Tom's contract runs out so soon.

Throw in Nicholas Cage's Ghost Rider, Ben Affleck's Daredevil, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and the 2005 Fantastic Four team.

So basically have all the early 2000s hero’s come into the mcu. Should of been like that from the start. Idk why they couldn’t let Toby into mcu but that’s cause Avi Arafat had to much power and ****ed everything and Fox didn’t want to play ball. Now look where we are. The two companies that started the whole thing are on there knees begging to join and being bought to join

I think we will get the long awaited Scooby Doo crossover, then maybe Rick and Morty.

While we are at it throw in Deadpool.

Seriously, I hope they do NOT cheapen this arc with such gimmicky nonsense....tell the end of the story and be done with it.

Its bad enough we are going to the tired cliche of time travel to undo every major plot development that made IW a powerful film. The oldest and most valuable members sacrifice themselves to save the next generation...gee where have we seen that before???? (Cough cough ....SW I am looking at you)

Sorry , the more I think about it, EG is just a transition film to end the old guard and sell us on the next wave of MCU films.

was it ever going to be anything else from Disney?

They have a theme park to advertise and a streaming service to justify.

I've been thinking that since IW - with the heavy emphasis on Spiderman, Guardians, DS, even Thor. Thor, riding off the success of Ragnarok; the others, becuase the upcoming MCU. Really threw me since it'd been 2 years since Cap & co. had been on screen - and 2017 had seen a Guardians, Spiderman, and Thor film - there'd be so little of Nat, Cap, etc.

And seein' as Team Cap/Wakanda are favs of mine, and I really didn't need anther huge dose of characters I'd just seen in theater, and IMO just as writing any story goes, sidelining Team Cap & co. made no sense - well, Markus and McFeely said some people wouldn't be happy. And I wasn't.:(

Time travel doesn't thrill me either any more than plot lines with ESP and *&^$. Quantum realms and alternate realities, yes. Having Eitri having built a flaw into the gauntlet to be exploited, or maybe Okoye enter that pool and communicate with ancestors or other realm (e.g. unused Thor scene) or the Collector have something on hand, to me would've been a lot more interesting - Loki too, maybe.

Pretty disappointed re the hijacking of massive end stories for loved characters - to me that's what it feels like:mad:. *Shrug*. But:

RUSSO: You know, we’re very proud of it. I think ultimately Avengers 4 may be our best work for Marvel. I think we’ve grown with every movie that we’ve made there. We’ve grown with the characters. We’ve grown with the cast. As filmmakers we’re very happy and very excited with the movie.

You know, it’s always an agenda of ours to block out the outside noise because it can lead you to make some bad choices with the material. We’ve learned over the years just to listen to ourselves, and it’s great that there’s two of us that we can have conversations with each other. We can really stay insulated and reinforce one another in our belief in the story that we’re telling. I feel like with Avengers 4, because it was made before there was any response to Avengers 3, it’s really pure in that regard. The storytelling is very pure. It’s without any sort of external noise creeping in...

Personally I think of CM in EG (as main character) as external noise and worse, but we'll see.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I'm excited to wait ten more years for them to build up to Doctor Doom, and another ten for Galactus. :woo

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Any word on fan events or marathon screenings? I wouldn't mind watching Infinity War and Endgame back to back.

Building a flaw into the infinity gauntlet is so Galen Erso......

Wow I wonder how big the new trailer which I’m sure will be with the CM viewings be this week

How much of the film will be revealed ..it’s next month :horror

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I too don't want any new info and I may not even bother watching any new trailer, or at least try and avoid for as long as I can.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Didn't Marvel already say they weren't going to reveal anymore in trailers than what they already have?

Could've sworn they said something like that...

More or less. But unlike most of the world I guess, I was pretty frustrated with IW, and re EG am reading any and all spoilers I can get my hands on. That's the end result of getting so overhyped re IW and completely believing in the Russos, and then getting an end product I personally wasn't thrilled with.

Also I don't trust Marvel's marketing at all - maybe I'm dumb that way but movie trailers keep faking me out. I think I'm gonna see one thing and then - not.

Do think the tight lid they have on things is interesting tho. Like careful leaks are being made to distract people so folks don't keep bringing up the missing. Like, yah know, Bucky, BP, DS, Spidey, Falcon, SW....

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

If you search for movie promo items on ebay AMC theaters will have some Endgame popcorn tins. Not sure if you would consider them spoilers. Looks cool, might try to snag some before they sell out.

Hope it's not the $180 dollar one.:horror

Do like some of this stuff tho. The commemorative ticket I got for DS premier is nice displayed with the fig. The IW Groot topper and cup was kinda nice too, for plastic.

Yep, thats the one. Not sure why anybody would pay that much for something you can get next month.

What did you not like about IW? There are a few things I'd change but overall I was satisfied with it. Events didn't play out like I had imagined, but the end result was what I had hoped for. The Avengers defeated with Thanos victorious. I'm actually not that hyped for the post-IW MCU at all.

The main problem I had was Cap seemed way underpowered, he should have defeated at least one Black Order member in Wakanda.

The short answer is "I wanted an IW movie like CW/TWS and got Guardians instead." The rest of this is longwinded (sorry) but wanted to be specific - not just hating for sake of it.....:horror

Tough to answer 'coz it's tough to explain why a script - just the way even a few short words are put together - grabs me or doesnt.

1) But, OK, that's one thing. I didn't like a lot Gunn's writing in GOGT2 - I dunno, found it kind of dull or flat. As opposed to Markus and McFeely's TWS and CW writing, and in IW think it showed up again. Like the interchanges between Vision and SW I thought were compelling and held my interest, where halfway through Gamora's speech to Thanos I completely lost interest. Even now I think that should have been cut in half. Drags on so long it's like a soap opera, to me.

There was other stuff too, like the line "the noblest end in history". It's just a boring, over-used line. Gunn wrote the Guardians lines in IW; IMO Gunn to me isn't real great with drama. Or like when Gamora heaves the bowl away. IMO it's just dull, over-used kinds of stuff, that IMO never showed up in a Russo film before.

Overall I think the mix of writers in IW was a problem. The Russos made it work, and there was stuff I thought was funny (Drax re Thor:lol) but there was - for me - too much fake Shakespeare.

2) Like pounding into my head how bad Thanos is:google. There's 2 scenes where we learn how bad Thanos is (the long ones with Gamora and then talking to DS) plus Banner and others talk about how bad he is. Even after all that, we really don't know his motivations, really. Not like Hela, Loki, Zemo, Bucky, or Ultron.

3) The IMO sidelining of Team Cap, any real exchange between established relationships - IMO cheapened the earlier films. Also the sense that DS, Guardians, and Spiderman were being heavily featured re upcoming films. That was jarring for me, esp. when there had just been a GOTG, Spiderman, and Thor movie - so why am I seeing so much of these characters, again?

4) I like grittier, hand to hand Earth-based battles. Really was looking forward to the Wakanda battle, esp. after the T'challa trailer. As in *head explodes:lol* looking forward to it. Wakanda! Wakanda fighters!
U have some of the MCU's best fighters on hand - Cap, T'challa, Bucky, Hulk, BW - there was some stuff, sure, but IMO not nearly enough. Not enough build-up, and seemed more like a frame for Thor to show up. Felt rushed.

5) Too much humor. The IW I wanted was Thanos-crunches-over-the-bones IW:devil. Like the battles in Braveheart/LOTR. Too much rushing. Because there was no emotional lead-in to the Wakanda battle, I didn't feel much when folks started dropping, either. Because of all the jokes, I couldn't "sink" into the film. Or I got irritated, like the Hulk thing which had no explanation whatsoever as to why Hulk is suddenly pouting. Wasn't IMO funny, more like WTF. (Also, IMO the music was "boring headache-causing epic" except the last scenes w. the sort of quiet thunder:clap)

I know a lot of people love IW. There's stuff I appreciate. But re other stuff got pretty frustrated with after getting SO hyped:banghead. Like make "whole day about IW premiere" hype. After all, the Russos were directing, my favs. Feeling pretty wary of EG, too, esp. stuffing CM into it.:horror But I don't HATE IW. Overall I'd give it a 6/10, but don't think it is one of the MCU's best.

Tho I blame Marvel/Disney for that, too, with the film release schedule; there was that pressure as well to get the film out.
