Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

The movie was so bad....

It made didabio come back from retirement to this wretched hellhole to post deranged walls of text arguing the truth, and nothing but the truth.

Therefore getting his last ban.
Godspeed warrior of truth. You fought the good fight

Eh, I don't think so. Doesn't seem like this site will even exist before long. Sooner or later this place will just be another html with a bunch of error codes on it. Nothing lasts for ever, the writings on the wall. I haven't been to this forum in a while and so much has changed. These weird ads, mods dropping like flies, trying to log in but not being able to access the server for hours/days, it's just not the same.

You've changed too crows. I don't even recognize you with the ewok girl or Harley Quinn signature. Your posting style is more psychotic than it's ever been. You've spent too much time on the internet and it's rotted your brain son.

Me? I never changed.

Anyway, just wanted to talk about what I saw last night while it was fresh on my mind. That's what we used to do, right? Going back into my cave until I get bored and want to talk about a random toy or movie I saw. Until next time!

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I pretty much agree with everything you said.

These are movies, not TV episodes where mere hours/days pass. Sometimes it is years that pass. I don't need to see every day of their life leading up to this event. That is an impossible task with these movies. That's what the stand alone movies are for, not the big "event" movies that bring every one together.
Except these aren't like TV shows where you see people every week. Years have gone by in these people's lives. They are in completely new places in them.

Age of Ultron, Civil War, and Avengers had plenty to of times when the action slowed down to let the characters breathe a bit. 80% of the 1st Avengers (still considered the best one), the farm and party scene in AOU, nice Tony and Cap moments in Civil War, ect. Actually I was surprised how well those films managed to give everyone time to shine while still delivering the action.

If a viewer chooses to ignore some/most of the "episodes" and jump into the final battle but doesn't understand stuff, then that's on them. Doesn't make sense to complain you don't know who/where the characters are emotionally. It's like being a fan of Game Thrones, but only watching the highest rated episodes and then saying you don't understand whats going on.
This is more like having the big battle episodes of Game of Thrones being the only episode of the season, and then saying the characters, how they got to the battlefield, or how they feel about this particular battle doesn't really matter.

I was just saying, this movie had such a negative reaction that it made you want to come back and post about it like you used to. so it must have been a big negative reaction.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Regarding the whole no time for development thing with characters like Cap, Widow, etc. and needing development for every single character, the problem is that the very nature of a crossover film always stands in the way of balancing out all of the characters. I've said it before but we were very lucky that the first Avengers managed to pull that off quite well. Here on the other hand, since we have about five times more characters, the ability to pull this film off in the same way the original Avengers did was pretty much "dead on arrival". We saw glimpses of how sloppy these films could get with AoU and CW.

Now, if you really wanted every character treated like this was their own movie, I take it you also wanted the film to run for six hours - and this is the big problem I have with films like Civil War and BvS - they spend so much time "developing" the characters that it just gets boring and when the action finally happens, it's too much. Now, before I get tarred and feathered, I am absolutely not saying that because this is a huge crossover film that it's allowed to neglect character development, but what I am saying is that, at the end of the day, it's really a game of pick your poison - sit through six hours of boredom or have the development thrown away at the expense of Bayformers-esque action scenes.

I personally wasn't offended or bothered by the lack of development for the heroes, especially since I got what I wanted with Thanos, but as I've said before - it's pick your poison.

But what do I know? Even though I didn't love the film and had my issues with it, I'm sure I'm just some fanboy with horrible taste in film and no standards. Oh what would I do without the almighty Film Gods of SSF here to tell me what makes a truly great film?

But iMO it didn't need to be so black and white. That's what I found shocking about the editing/story. It's true we know the characters but Team Cap had been fugitives. Where there were desperately needed bridge lines there were none but I felt the scene between Gamora and Quill just dragged. Some lines were boring IMO. Just IMO the Russos and writers are better than this at balancing multiple characters.

*Shrug* well that's that until the home release but I'll never go offline again for an MCU movie e.g. I'd rather get spoiled than have *expectations*.

I bet a million pesos that when Tony returns to earth in A4, he'll find out that Pepper is gone. That's why Tony and Pepper were talking about a wedding and kids in this film.

I'm Boromir though . . .

No bed hugs for me.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

This review caught me off guard. I thought for sure you'd hate this one because of how messy it was structure-wise. :lol

You know, I didn't even have time to think about it because it moved so fast for me. Plus, I know its a two-parter, so the complete structure is immediately abandoned.

Nebula .... Nobody gives a **** about the blue chick .

Uh, OK, first -- welcome back from the dead.

2nd, you know I have a thing for bald chicks -- the blue is a bonus -- so let's be nice to her.

Yeah, and Tony (only child so probably didn't get the brother-bond) now gets what Cap went through and why Cap would do anything to get someone you loved back. Also Tony's vision came true more or less. Good times.:monkey3

We're not going to get THAT kind of movie with her and Tony stuck on the planet alone together, so who cares.

Thought the same thing. I figure he's going to have to tell Aunt May about what happened to Peter too.

OR, none of these things will play out and it'll just jump from a thing to a thing for two and a half hours like this did.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I still laugh at the Footloose joke:

Star-Lord: Is it still the best movie of all time?

Spidey: It never was.

I’m sure a lot of people don’t feel the same, but I was laughing constantly at all the banter and quips. A favorite of mine:
Quill: Where’s Gamora?
Tony: I’ll do you one better, who’s Gamora?
Drax: I’ll do you one better, why’s Gamora?
:rotfl

Also, was anyone else getting a Phantom Menace vibe during the Wakanda battle? lol

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

For all we know, Aunt May might be gone too

What about Adrian Toomes/Vulture? Those prison dudes aren't going to want to kill Spider-Man any more if Spider-Man turned to dust. The drama is lost there.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

My favorite joke was when Tony...

...called Ebony Maw "Squidward". :lol

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I thought it was cool how they managed to reference earlier films. Rocket giving Thor the eye he stole in the previous GOTG movie and Rocket playing the Yandu role when he was helping Thor, who was trying to put on a brave face after losing so much. I liked those little moments.
