Hero vs. Hero is a schoolyard game -- who would win?

It's not anything I would ever want to see realized because they'll always pull their punches and there will never be a "winner".

It would’ve been a neat twist if Superman actually killed Batman - before he ever became JL Batman.

You clearly didnt understand it....keep to the kiddies corner ie Marvel:wink1:

But the “comedic” Marvel movies ended up connecting with the audiences across the entire spectrum of emotions because tragedy is more impactful and carries more emotional weight when it’s balanced with characters sharing humor and friendship with each other.

DCEU was a one note sob story trying to pass itself off as sophisticated story telling.

Superman dying was as emotionally dry as cow hide in a desert.

Just wait until A4 ends there won’t be a a dry eye in the theater.

Shame that some view Marvel’s “comedic” elements as weak childish unsophisticated writing when it actually had the complete opposite effect in the long run.

But if the super sophisticated on here who are shackled and paralyzed by their superior intellect want to label MCU fans such as myself “kiddies” then more power to them I have 19 quality movies to be a silly kid with.

And a lot of those 19 went over $1B. What has DC done? :lol

I am a huge, huge DC fan. I actually really liked BvS (extended cut) and the Suicide Squad extended cut. That said, Justice League was a huge let down.

In all honesty, Marvel has the better films. Hands down. As much as I love the Nolan bat films, this level of craftsmanship and consistency is a sight to behold and we are all unbelievably lucky.

Now, if only Marvel and DC could come together to help solve the issues with the DCEU. I can’t tolerate the films getting much worse. I own virtually every Marvel and DC movie released since Batman ‘89, with the exception of Green Lantern and that awful Fantastic Four reboot. I’d like good films again please. :slap

^

Nailed it.

I’m not even trying to be an MCU snob either....that’s Wor-Gar lulz....but even the weaker entries served a purpose which was to make us connect with the characters long term even if their single entries were lacking in certain elements.

Hell BvS has my favorite on screen Batman he was a beast, WW entrance was freaking exotic and epic and I even got a kick out of Luthor using his urine for intimidation lol BUT I didn’t buy into making Superman dark as a means to make Batman find the light that just felt forced to me.

IW2 trailer when lol

I bought GL lol

I really don’t think things thru sometimes lol

I actually walked out of GL mid-way through and didn't re-watch it until around this time last year, and honestly, if I were strapped to a chair and forced to choose between GL and ******** Squad, I'd choose the former. :lol

Ultimately it's still a game of poo > crap though.

I like both studios films....but DCs biggest problem is that Marvel came first. DC can do no right and on the flip side BP for example is a paint by numbers solid average film and its hailed as a master piece:slap
Nearly all Marvels films are ranked highly by critics and fans alike....but when turds like IM2&3,Thor 2,Capt 1,GOTG 2,Spidey Homecoming,Ultron are class as Fresh(God help us) you know theres a problem. So DC have a few average films in some peoples minds...Marvel have what 7 off the top of my head right there.

Harley Quinn, the Joker and Deadshot really saved that movie, for me personally. The plot of the film is my biggest gripe. Still not sure why the main villain wasn’t the Joker and why they completely underutilized the actress chosen for Amanda Waller. God, that character sucked.

Anyway, not even Ryan Reynolds could save Green Lantern. That’s bad. At least Ghost Rider had some relatively decent moments? Kinda. :lol

Elektra was pretty bad. Love the character though, so I’m biased, lol.

Actually DC was first with the Nolan trilogy, but they shot themselves in the foot with the limitations Nolan imposed on his trilogy (they did not adapt).

Even then, it wasn't too late for them to build their universe. They simply failed at planning it. For example, they did not capitalize with MoS, leaving a huge gap (3 years) to BvS. Those 3 years could have been spent world-building with some solo films for their characters. How many films did Marvel churn out in those same 3 years?

In that same 3 years, Marvel released 8 films, both solo character films and 1 Avenger movie. While DC was twiddling their thumbs, Marvel was building the world of their cinematic universe and fleshing out their characters further.

And that's the gist of my problem with DC's latest films. They lean too much on the spectacle and their characters' names rather than the characters themselves. Nothing in the DCEU films feel earned to me. I never felt an attachment with Superman's death in BvS because I barely knew this Superman and he wasn't even likeable in the first place. Likewise, people in the film mourning his death does not seem earned either in JL because he was a polarizing figure at best in the BvS film.

Of all their films so far, WW was the only one that resonated for me because I feel that this was the only film where the character went through a proper arc. The WW we saw at the start of the film is not the same one at the end and we get to see her grow emotionally and in wisdom through the film. It was the only film in the DCEU lineup to properly focus on the character rather than just the spectacle of a superhero in my opinion.

Nolan was pretty adamant, as I recall, that Batman was the only ''superhero'' in his world. It was never going to become a shared universe - and thus Marvel did come first with that concept.

Agreed on everything else though. 'Unearned' definitely describes the majority of what the DCEU was/is doing.
