Watched this again last night. Never gets old, never gets tired. The BEST comic book movie ever!

Like ESB, it didn't have to wrap up all the storylines nice and neat... instead it had fun unraveling them. It's dark edge help ground its men-in-bright-costumes and humanize them all (well, except Drax).

I fear IW2 just has so much work to do in cleaning up everyone's back stories and giving everyone their "chance" on screen to find themselves and kick ass that it may just knock the finale down a peg from this one. There's no way to top this. Even this ending with Thanos watching the sunset is far more poignant than IW2's inevitable line-up finale of all the Avengers and their helpers.

You know that's a really good point and something that we would probably all do well to accept right now so that we don't come away from IW2 feeling let down. I mean we're all fine with ESB being the best of the SW OT so really all IW2 has to do is just be better than ROTJ and *not* IW1. As long as IW2 isn't cringeworthy *bad* (fat chance) and just gives us some visually spectacular battles and crowd pleasing comeuppances then I'll count it a success. If it doesn't go into Spider-Man 3 or TDKR territory then we should be good.

IW 3rd act kills RO 3rd act IMO. Don't get me wrong RO 3rd act is great but without that Vader scene it would not even be worth mentioning in the same breath as IW.

Vader Unleased is one of cinemas greatest moments :) :) :)

Imagine if the Vader scene at the end of RO wasn't Vader taking out Rebel Troops but instead was him cutting a path through all the main heroes; Baze, Chirrut, Bodie, Blue Leader, Raddus, Cassian, Jyn. That's basically what we got with Thanos' arrival in Wakanda.

Jesus that’s insane lol

Wwwwelll I wouldn't go that far. Vader killed all those guys whereas Thanos relatively harmlessly incapacitated those Avengers....until he got to poor Vision anyway.

a-dev wut :lol

Thanos took out half of the universe including half of the Avengers.

But I think Khev was just referring to the scene where he arrives in Wakanda and they all try to attack him and he pretty much just waves them all off. Gives Cap a bit of a punch but the rest he disables with magic.

The finger snap is a different thing. Vader didn't have such a moment in Rogue One.

Both scenes served a very similar purpose though with the bad guy marching toward the MacGuffin while a squad of good guys try to stop him from getting there at all costs. I'm not saying that Thanos trumps RO Vader or that Wakanda/Titan trumps the Scariff land/space battle but I can't help but be impressed that Thanos systematically took out every single one of the very *best* heroes without being stopped compared to Vader slicing and dicing a bunch of regular soldiers.

Again, the impact of the RO Vader scene is one for the ages and it's definitely one of the very best scenes in all of SW and sci-fi but damn if Thanos didn't have it's own kind of unique dread with him taking out the best of the best that Earth had to offer.

In all seriousness though you say that as it's just some guy walking through the woods swatting off flies but that's the thing, Thanos swats the freaking AVENGERS away as if they were flies. :horror

And I do love that moment where he pauses to watch Cap grab the gauntlet with FULL infinity stones and gets frustrated that he can't close his grip until finally deciding to knock him out with his other hand. Because the hand with the *infinity gauntlet* wasn't enough. Reminds me of Vader being forced to use his other hand to deflect some of Han's shots in Cloud City before saying "****** it" and pulling the blaster out of his hand.

Definitely agree on the sense of dread. I certainly wasn't trying to take away from the power of the scene - merely saying that, in that particular scene, he doesn't physically kill anyone until he gets t- OK fine, it was badass! :lol

:lol

Speaking again of that dread - I was terrified for Cap at that moment, having gone into the film unspoiled and thinking that either Cap or Iron Man would die in this film.

Its funny to see who aged well -- Cap, Thor, Fury -- and who didn't -- Stark, Pepper, BW. I know, it's been 10 years.

Hell, back in the day I thought Indy was getting old when 8 years after Raiders he did Last Crusade. Now there's this group who we've literally watched age over the last 10 years with a film appearance at least every two years.

Honestly the only reason I even continued the conversation is because both the Thanos and Vader scene are so awesome. I agree on the impact of the actual death and carnage caused by Vader but since this is the IW thread I figured I'd call out how amazing it was that Thanos took on all the heavy hitters. :)

Totally! Terrified is not an overstatement because I was totally expecting Cap to just be vaporized or something on the spot. In fact I pretty much assumed that the entire MCU had been somewhat building up to Cap's death in *this* movie and consider it to actually be a profound twist that he *didn't* die. Oh and lol WB on killing Supes in his second film while Marvel continues to be patient until just the right time after 20 films.

*insert Will Ferrell crazy pills gif*

Man I don't what to say to you guys. I think ScarJo looks *much* better in CW and IW than she did in the first Avengers flick. IM2 is still off the charts though.

W... T... F...

That messy hair totally ruined her IM2 look while she was in the skintight outfit IMO.

As far as Widow's designs go, I'd rank them...

TWS
CW
A1
IM2
AoU
IW
