Well, thinking about it, if it included plants and lower animals then that would defeat the purpose of the whole endeavor - if they are the resources and the fingersnap wipes out half of all that aswell then he won't be bringing any balance back to the universe.

I guess that's one aspect of Thanos' motivation that could have been written a bit better maybe? If we want to get nitpicky, wanting to reserve resources and life is all well but wouldn't it be better to use the guantlet to create more planets instead of wiping out half of life? Idk.

In the comic he wanted to wipe out half the universe to appease a woman, the embodiment of death. That could have been Hela in the movie counterpart had they gone that route though I hope they bring her back.

TDK Joker with all of his extravagant elaborate drama ended up being a nothing villain.

He caused the deaths of 2 DA’s, a vigilante wanna be nerd and a few mobsters and low level criminals.

Regardless if Thanos is easy going at certain moments he still wiped out half of the universe.

Thanos > Joker

But I don't care about a meaningless universe of unknown characters. Plus the characters that "died" will come back too. Joker killed Rachel, damaged Dent, "killed" Gordon...briefly, killed the mob, and the annoying Asian guy too.

Also, Joker has better fashion sense than Thanos.

We’ll revisit this conversation after Thanos kills Cap.

Khev is not prepared. :lol

When they say he wiped out half the life in the universe I take it that just means the sentient, intelligent lifeforms...

What if the stones took his "at random" part seriously and the 50/50 chance of elimination actually eviscerated Thanos from the universe? Would the whole 'snap' thing then reverse and end because he never existed?

Is that how they're going to stop all this...?

Not how psychos think they are always hypocritical and automatically see themselves as part of the solution and not the problem inflicting the world.

Thanos made himself exempt from the 50/50.

Is Thanos afraid of Gods?

I know he kills Loki, but Loki is not a true God. But Thor is, and Star-Lord is half God. And Thanos seems to bolt away quickly from both of them -- twice he leaves Star-Lord without engaging and he slips away from Thor once all is done. There's also the line from Loki: you'll never be a God.

Is there a connection?

I didn't see it that way. To me, it looked more like he didn't need to waste his time fighting either Starlord or Thor. It was all about his mission. Everything he did was with the goal of completing the task he laid out for himself. Why fight Starlord? He already had the time stone. It would've been a waste of time. Especially since he still needed the last stone on Vision's head and he was in Wakanda. As for Thor, Thanos was injured and his mission was accomplished. What would be the point of sticking around and fighting Thor under those circumstances? No, all that was left for Thanos was to heal and watch the sunrise on a grateful universe.

If I could change anything it would be that horribly forced too on the nose cringe humor of Starlord acting tough and being jealous upon first meeting Thor.

Rented it from Redbox and saw it for a second time, not as good as I remembered it the first time. The Guardians stuff just felt a little out of place with the more serious tone I think it needed, but still pretty good.

I was really saddened to see that there was no mention of the Infinity Gauntlet Comics in the special features on the Blu Ray. The producers just babbled on about the movie with not a single mention of Jim Starlin. It made it feel like this whole thing was their idea. There might've been something said in the commentary track (I didn't have the time to listen to it), but a Feature about the IG comics should've been mandatory.

I enjoyed the silly humor, my nitpicks are pretty much only the dodgy CGI of Thanos' face in a couple shots (not as problematic on a TV screen), poor compositing of Banner's head in the Hulkbuster and slightly anti-climactic deaths of Maw and Proxima. My one true irritation is being forced to watch a cropped image at home though, that's inexcusable but obviously we're stuck with it unless they correct it with a future release.

:goodpost:

That did feel really out of character and forced. I did think Starlord mimicking Thor's accent was funny, but how that came about was just too childish, something a 9 y/o would do.
