I had my fears about this too.

My son was about three years old and one day I walked past his bedroom and heard him talking. I popped my head in and there he was lying in bed with his head propped up talking to his 12" Hasbro Princess Leia figure.
I asked what he was doing and he turned and said "Daddy, I don't need you in here right now!"

i really dont mind paying for some families, the ones that really do need help financially etc. My brother gets benefits for his 2 kids, he works like a ^^^^^ 24/7 but his wife has to stay at home with the kids and as the uk is so damn expensive they need financial aid to stay afloat. But its douches like these that piss me off, i expect the only reason the girl kept the baby was for a free house and some cash, simple as. alot of people do that these days and its the kids really who suffer, the parents just see it as a paycheck and dont really give a ^^^^. but i suppose you cant really pick and choose who gets money and who dosent

There was no welfare reform, or attempt, by ANY adminstration that I know of.

I agree with you, Sluggie. There are families that really need it but we have so many, like in Britian who take advantage of it. At least your brother is working! We have generations of the same family on welfare and never try to get off it. They just know how to play the system. There are things that can be done, but no one wants to tackle it because it involves kids.

Wow, shock news, the boy was just doing what anyone who is sexually active wants to do, and that's having sex. It's not his fault that him and the girl were given inadequate sex education. So why is everyone calling him and his girlfriend douches? Sure, that's a word for their parents, but not for them.

I also think it's a bit early to write them off as a drain on society. He seems to be coping pretty well with fatherhood - taking it in turns to feed the baby and saying he's going to try and be a good father - which is more than many adult fathers say. Of course it's not ideal to have a child at that age, but maybe the experience will turn him into a responsible adult, in which case he'll be able to repay the money that's been invested in him by the state when he goes out to work.

He's certainly been no more irresponsible than, say, Sir Fred Goodwin, and possibly a lot less. At least he's contributed a new life to British society, and may yet contribute more. Goodwin has been a COMPLETE drain on the state.
