I've always wanted to learn the Japanese language.

It's not easy. I've been studying it for just over two years in college and am just starting to get good at it. The hardest part is memorizing the Kanj characters. There are hundreds of them.

The weird thing is I can pronounce the words VERY well and can even understand a lot of the words spoken. But I'm definitely clueless on kanji.

Kanji!? Is that the game where you pull out block pieces!?

That would be Shogi (Japanese chess). We use to play that when I was stationed in Okinawa. But the one we really liked was the ancient game from Asia called GO which was even better and more strategic.

My first Japanese language professor, Eriko Sato, authored several books that she teaches from in class. You can check out "Contemporary Japanese" Volume 1, if you want. She did a good job in making diagrams to explain the stroke orders for many Kanji characters, and there's also a lot of vocabulary and conversations to follow from.

I just wish if Japanese wasn't filled with so many Chinese characters. Too much memorization! :lol

I remember my NES console had the game from the second pic. I never had any idea how you play that. But I remember that game.
