I am totally jealous. Do you live near either of the Alehouses that are in Virginia?

Yeah..we live about 10 minutes from the Chantilly one. We go there way too often. ;) I wish they did growlers like the one in Rehoboth does but VA law forbids growlers to go unless you brew the beer on site. Not sure how my Whole Foods can do it...maybe cause they are a food store and not a restaurant?

On a Dogfish kick..just finished some of these before dinner...

How was the My Antonia? I saw that and Squall IPA at a local liquor store. Have you had the Squall?

I popped open my bottle of Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Fritz and Ken's Ale last night for my birthday. It was awesome!

Cool, I'll have to check it out.

I picked up a bottle of Robert Johnson's Hellhound On My Ale last weekend.

That one is really nice...the lemon flavor really comes through. I'm saving ours til it gets a bit warmer out. Maybe memorial day weekend.

On the hunt now for "backyard ale" from flying dog out of frederick md. its a collaboration with chef bryan voltaggio and flying dog...it's supposed to be a smokey ale...sounds very good.

Okay guys, American Craft Beer Week (May 16-22) begins tomorrow. https://www.craftbeer.com/pages/news-and-events/american-craft-beer-week

One of my local brewers, Sebago Brewing Co., is moving the location of their bar in Portland, ME at the end of the week and they are having an End Of An Era party Tuesday night. Besides their own beer they are also having some beer from other Maine brewers, a few New Hampshire brewers, and Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada on tap and on cask. I can't wait to check it out!

Anyone going to any events in your area?

I'm still laughing at these hipster/surfer style beer label designs you guys get down there in the US.

Valfar you'll actually be surprised but many great micro breweries come from the US. American beer is great as long as you're not looking at the big names.

Same could be said for Canadian beer too but, thats not what i was talking about.

I know. Good Canadian micro breweries as well, but everyone knows Canadians brew a good beer. Thing is Americans get dumped on in the beer brewing world and I am defending them. They make some good ____!

Yea but, you are being a bit too much of a community friend here sir.

I don't doubt American beer is good, it looks damn tasty in these last few pages but again, i'm not talking about that.

Someone here already explained to me how these guys market their beers over there, i get it but, still poking fun at it. lol!

Yeah some of the marketing is cheesy, but that's Americans for you. They are full of cheese, but sometimes cheese is good. Sure it stinks and is fattening, but sometimes it tastes good. Wait, that doesn't sound right!

Ahhhh Fig it, I AM ROYALLY BUZZED! WEEEEEE!!!!

I'd put US micro brews up against Canadian micro brews any day of the week. Not sure why people are bad mouthing US beers...I don't remember reading any posts where people went out of their way to bash Canadian beers. I thought this section of the forum was to talk about beer....not USA vs. Canada. :cuckoo:

Maybe I missed a post where we attacked Canada...maybe the previous poster can point that out....if not maybe he shouldn't badmouth US breweries for no uncalled reason.

Looking back it's a quite a strange post...here we are all are talking about beers we enjoy, then we get a post about how stupid US beer labels are and how stupidly we market our beer. All of this out of the blue....maybe I should forward this thread to Sam Calagione of Dogfish and tell him how stupid his beer his and how awful he his at selling his beer. Maybe the US shouldn't make beer at all...

Relax, we're having fun and I was actually the one who said Americans make great beer... well, the micro breweries do. Only good beer is brewed from micro breweries.

I'm relaxed..just didn't understand where the dig against the US beer makers came from. Just seems like it came out of left field and wasn't trying to explain anything but rather mock those US companies.

:lol Yea, i've seen them drinking that cheap stuff here..mostly women.

I will admit here that i had some Old Milwaukee last week, i like these new cans. XD
