I just got home from having the best beer ever! De Struise Brouwers Black Albert, a 13% abv Belgian Imperial Stout. On-tap at Novare Res Bier Cafe's 3 Year's of Slingin' Beers party. $13 for a 12 oz pour and I'd do it all over again without hesitation.

Heading to our local Dogfish tonight for the release party of "Festina Peche". With temps near 100 today this will really hit the spot.

I've now tried over 700 different beers and I still can't build up a taste for really bitter & hoppy ones, like IPAs.

And bitter IPAs (and Pale Ales in general) are so popular right now it makes things sometimes frustrating for fans of the more malted barely brews like myself. Still plenty of great stuff to choose from out there, though.

I'm a total hop-head. The bitter the better. My wife on the other hand hates them..makes beer buying challenging.

And here I thought it was hot when it was near 80 in my neck of the woods on Monday. :lol

I'm hoping to find Festina Peche this weekend as I'm finally in the mood for some summer brews. Had this on Monday:

The only other time I've had a hefeweizen was two years ago when it was in the Sam Adams summer variety pack. I recall I didn't really care for it, but I was also drinking everything out of a pint glass (if not the bottle) back then.

The oldest and still one of the best beers made in mass.

You sound just like me! We need to drink some beers at SDCC and CVI.

A quick word about IPA's.

The best ones are not only bitter. A good one should have a healthy floral flavor, and a touch of citrus.

My personal favorite is made by Bell's Brewery:

For those of you who hate the bitter taste and who don't like the darker beers...
These blondes below are some of my favorites-No bitterness at all. Just nice and smooth

Kona Long Board
bohemia
Blue moon

I love Blue Moon. :)

Actually there are very few styles of beer I dislike.

Yeah, Blue moon is good. It reminds me of a hefeweizen, but is actually a Belgium White beer. I'm starting to aquire a taste for the darker beers like Guinness. It strangely reminds me of the taste of chocolate whenever I drink one.

I'm heading to Novare Res Bier Cafe in Portland, Maine in a few hours. They have 25 rotating taps and every so often they will feature a single brewery. New Hampshire's Smuttynose Brewing is taking over the taps today.

I think I'm going to get the '05 Imperial Stout and the short batch Belgian Stout.

Just got back from VOLT in Frederick, MD with a case of these. Had a couple of them at the restaurant. Much heavier than I thought they would be and very smokey in flavor. The only place to buy them is either VOLT or Flying Dog brewery. If you see it on tap order one...very tasty.
