Did hot toys actually weld the lighting onto their mask? It looks as if they only melted some transparent plastic material instead but I'm not sure what they used.

HT had actually drowned the base of the LED with epoxy glue (I think it's some epoxy, but whatever), but wires have been soldered to the pins of the LED, either conventionally with a soldering iron and tin, or faster and own with a miniature electric arc (a technique used in orthodontics for example).

About versions (not to mention price yet), there will be 5 as follows:

A - "Garage basic kit" (Bottom of the range): crude as-cast (to deburr, ...) without hardware of the lighting system - to assemble and paint (7 pieces + solar film)
B - "Garage full kit": (A) + hardware of the lighting system (LED, wiring, brass tubes, dorsal plug) - to assemble, weld and paint
C - "Classic" (Average range): model painted (like new) without lighting
D - "Full Classic" model painted (like new) with lighting
E - "Ultimate" (Top of the range): model painted (Battle Damage) with lighting

i will choose "C".
i never use lighting but need the paint that i cannot do myself; and i don't need battle damages.
plus i would really live very well without all those inside details, if it is possible.

it's not the level of your detailing, of course. especially knowing the sizes of that thing. it's that i never liked that 1:1 helmet's insides you used as an example, but i'll simply never look into it
and your abilities to miniature details are amazing on both sides, it's without any doubt.

The tastes and colors are in nature of course, and as such I respect your opinion completely, but you are slipping doubts, I do not agree, otherwise I would not spend so much time on it, hehe... Of course.
I think instead that it is rich in details and concept design is one of the most interesting.
If I had to design one (that will certainly happen one day... Look, a scoop! ), I would make it differently, certainly, but as it is, I love it.

hello Baloo! please remember that this post of mine is only my thoughts about the inside design, not about your magnificient work
ok here is what i mean:

if predator really existed (and his helmet too, heh), those tubes going out of surface would scratch his soft, damp jaws every time he occasionally moves them a little - or when he gets a head hit.
another point is that there is no place for a face in the front: actually the outside surface repeats his face shapes, and here we see something flat, which means that outside shape would be fake, just reminding of actual face and not clinging it.
so i personally think that the inside would be smooth, repeating the face shapes, with tubes and other details sunk deep into the surface.
adding the point that helmet's lenses are (or seem to be) actually united, we finally see that details between eyes should not be there, too.
i really don't know why people who designed that helmet replica decided to give it those details. i guess they simply repeated the outside details of Gort's helmet and put them on the inside.

and that's why i said that if avoiding them made your work easier, i wouldn't mind if you did two helmets for me without them. (yes, i would like to get 2 of them, as i got 2 P1 and 2 P2 helmets from tylerdurdem: i try to have unique things reserved).

Yes, I see what you mean, but:
- Placed where they are, pipes do not impede the mandibles, so the Predator will not suffer (and cute as he is, what would be a shame, hehe... )
- You think that there is no place to put his face?... Do not forget, my friend, that my mask fits perfectly... But yes, but yes...
- The fact that inside should take the form like outside: not agree because with all the technology on board, there must be some covers to mask a portion of the housings, right?
- As for the part between the 2 lenses, for me it must be his breathing regulator (which allows him to stay underwater as long as he wants). This does not interfere his field of vision. For me, the visor in a single game is just an optical illusion, because why cut a slit in the vision?
- Now on the Gort's helmet, what is seen on the outside might be what we see inside, as if the cover outside the muzzle had been removed.

I do not know if I expressed myself well - I speak English so badly (a pitiful polyglot!) - but there is no aggression in my words, quite the contrary... And I took great pleasure to argue (a real pleading, right?)
