Balrog Vs. Gandalf Diorama!!!

I love the Weta Gandalf, it's the best Gandalf piece by long and far (but for the Bronze of course) and space efficient too.

Yeah, it has that real FOTR middle-earth feeling.

I ordered this piece despite the GTG looking too "cartoony" controversy. I still think it's a great piece overall. Rather than gripe about how GTG looks, I would only improve this piece by how he's attached to Balrog. I'd say lose the fire whip going up GTG's man-dress. During the descent Balrog didn't use it anyway (or maybe put the flaming sword in the Balrog's hand if something just has to be there). At one point GTG stabs Balrog with his sword. I think it would've been much more powerful to see the sword being thrust into the upper chest of the Balrog and Gandalf being attached to him that way. Or simply keep it the way it is, but improve the GTG scuplt if possible to satisfy the naysayers. In either case, I'd still lose the fire whip, which would eliminate lingering fears about fire whip breakage which plagued the original SSW Balrog. Just thinking out loud.

I bet the Balrog and Gandalf will be seperate pieces. Even though I think Gandalf looks fine I am sure you can just display the Balrog for the "Balrog vs. Rock Diorama."

The one at the con had the tip of the horn/hand as a seperate piece, I am sure it fits in with a peg.

maybe you guys can help me out, i have the hellboy2 exc. PF on order but i really want this piece. i don't know if i should cancel the hb and get this piece or keep the hb and take my chances that this piece sells out and then i'll have to pay those high evilbay prices.

what do you guys thing?

I really dig the Hellboy franchise, but I'm committed to collecting LOTR stuff. I would say do what your heart tells you. If you're in it to flip it, go for the one with the lowest ES. :chew

It would stand to reason that the HB will be the harder find; it is almost universally praised, has a must-have exclusive, and a relatively low ES. The dio isn't everybody's cup of tea, and it doesn't have an exclusive.

yeah you right i missed out on the first HB PF and know they are running real hi on evilbay. I like the HB 2 PF better than the fisrt one.

Eagle vs Fellbeast is 1250 so 1000 for this is pretty good IMO.
