These look terrible.
I can't even look at Gollum without laughing at him.
Frodo looks very feminine in the sculpt.

No way are these better than Toybiz.
Don't remember Aragorn wearing a miniskirt either 🤣 these would be fine for £25 like but they not much better than the recent Diamond Select offerings which are around that price.

The cloaks are absolutely horrible too.

The DS figures are really bad, I bought them and they’re some of the very few I simply regret getting. Doubt I could give them away.

Yeah I didn't bother picking any of those up either. My kingdom for some half decent 1/12th LOTR figures! Say what you want about Hasbro but a lot of their most recent Black Series figures are great for the price point! If someone gave LOTR the same treatment and went all in on the line I'd be in big trouble.

I guess I am in the minority but I don’t think DST LOTR figures are that bad. I actually think some of them turned out really well and are upgrades from the old ToyBiz figures.

I will say Gimli looks good, but I stopped after wave 4? Boromir/Lurtz onwards the line may have improved.

As an owner of several Figuarts figures, I know these head sculpts will look better in person than they do in these photos, but... yikes!

And the Elven cloaks look like giant billowing capes... not accurate at all!

To each his own. I am definitely not saying DST are InArt, high end quality but to me they are a step up from ToyBiz in most categories. Somethings like the sheaths not being attached, articulation choices, accessories, etc. are mind boggling to me but not to the point I have bailed on the line. Granted I am a very easy mark for LOTR. I used to have every ToyBiz 1/12 that they made and I even had the NECA Balrog. At one point I had the crazy idea of building a Helms Deep dio. At the time I had the figures for it but never got around to it.
