His shoes are really grippy, he was heavy enough, and he landed wrong. If his shoes weren't so grippy, they would have slid out and he wouldn't have broken it. If he had landed right, he wouldn't have broken it. There might be some physiological cause of a weak bone, due to inadequate nutrition, too much sexual exertion, or damage caused by drugs, perhaps a genetic condition, or all of the above.

This post along with your "Breaking Bad" rants and splitting hairs is why you're mocked on this board. *eye roll*

Saw this incident yesterday. Crazy thing to see and one time was too much. I wish this player all of the best.

I like Breaking Bad and while I understand that it's totally irrelevant to this topic, I wanted to chime in.

Thank you.

:lol

Didn't you hear? It's from supper grippy shoes and having far too much sex. Diet probably played a factor as well. Too much red meat and flouridated water. :lecture:lol

If that's the case, you should be able to take a sledgehammer to my leg and not break it.

:(

Damn, that was unreal.

I don't really see how that could have happened though. It didn't look like he was very high off the ground. Maybe a sprain or something..but for his leg to actually break in half is crazy.

I'm betting he has some health issue.

There's a clip on youtube of a footballer doing some fancy footwork swervy rubbish and snapping his leg in half, it's not hard to find. There's also an american footballer breaking his shin bone by running into something at the end of the football field. They both seem pretty innocuous.

Sometimes, there are a number of factors that all add up to break a bone. Apparently you can put a thigh bone on a table and smash it with a sledgehammer and it won't break. Suspend that same bone in the air and swing it back and forth like a pendulem and you can tap it with a knife and watch it splinter.

Unluckiest bloke in the world but the height at which he came down, his weight, the part of the ankle that landed on the floor, his shoes, his momentum and probably the strength of the bones themselves all added up to this injury. Not that I'm a medical expert or anything.

EDIT: Here you go WARNING: These are quite graphic

Look at how skinny his legs are, even with dressings.

Here is a closeup of the break. Don't look at it if you're squeamish.

What the **** is wrong with you? :slap:lol I mean the "grippy" part of your post was bad enough.

If shoes grip well enough, and you land on your feet wrong, instead of your feet slipping, your feet grab and the torque is transferred to your leg or ankle. If your shoes don't grip as well, even if you land wrong, your feet slip a bit, thus preventing torque transfer to the leg.

Obviously, the rubber compound is designed to grip best for maximum traction and maneuverability, but at the cost of transferring more force to the legs. If the legs are strong enough, and you step correctly, it works. If your legs are weak, and you land wrong, you break something.

Analogy:
If you put more horsepower in a car and put tires with more grip on it, the tires will transfer more power to the road during acceleration, transferring more torque to the differential, driveshaft, and transmission. If the differential, the transmission and the driveshaft aren't upgraded they might not be strong enough, and one will break, very likely the differential first.
If the tires had less grip, the tires would slip instead of grip, thus reducing the torque to the drivetrain, thus reducing the chance of breaking it. The grip that his shoes allowed was stronger than his bones.

Drugs destroy the body and reduce concentration. Excessive sex depletes the body of nutrients, which are needed to keep the body strong. You did not know that?

Basketball players are notorious for drug use and promiscuity. That is why I mentioned those possible causes. Wilt Chamberlain 25,000 women. Magic Johnson was 5 thousand women?

Most of what is lost in sex is protein, zinc, and lecithin. Zinc is an important bone building nutrient. Perhaps you didn't know what either. If you deplete the body of a bone building nutrient, it stands to reason that your bones won't be strong enough in a situation like this.

This guy's legs are too skinny. He needs to do more weight training to build bone mass.

My dad and I were talking about it and it came out he had two stress fractures in the leg that broke.

hadnt officially heard that but your earlier comment was touched upon in speculation.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Saul Kaplan of Springfield, Virginia, says Ware may have twisted his leg as he landed, causing the bone to snap. Kaplan -- who also is not involved in Ware's care -- said it's also possible Ware had a benign bone tumor that weakened the tibia before his fall.
