Re: Batman: Arkham City

I do have to agree about the seemingly preposterous notion of letting inmates/prisoners run free within the boundries of Arkham City.
As you say SwedishHeat, it was Quincy Sharp that proposed and planned the whole idea of Arkham City, but even if he thought it was a good, diabolical scheme to rid the city of the villains and murderers, I doubt the rest of the city would have agreed to such an idea.
Without knowing the full stroy, I feel it would have been a better idea to have the buildings inside the perimiter wall converted into makeshift prisons/cells to house the inmates/prisoners, and then perhaps someone could free tham all by cutting power to the whole of Arkham City or something along those lines.

But the story exists in a universe in which situations are created to push Batman to his limits. Realistically, Joker would have been put to death years ago, yet in Gotham City they put him in Arkham Asylum and hope he is rehabilitated.

Seeing where people's suspension of disbelief ends is always interesting. "Yes, I can believe that a sociopathic clown can go on numerous killing sprees and repeatedly try to poison an entire city, but I just can't believe that a mayor would have the power to let inmates roam about an enclosed section of Gotham City"

This shouldn't be an issue.

Not necessarily. Joker is clearly insane and most often than not insane people don't get the death penalty. But realistically, Arkham's security should be much, much better :lol

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I think I'm going to go back and play through the first game again. Loved it very much, and gave me much superhero vibe that I got wood. Did anyone here get the game of the year edition?? Is it worth it??

I didn't, but what extras do you get with that edition?

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I've been playing it through again and it is really as much fun the second time as the first. A little annoying when you vaguely remember a riddle to solve but can't quite remember how. :lol

When I played through it a second time, with the riddles where you had to line up the "?" and I wouldn't be able to remember the other part of the damn thing was painted! :gah:

Good game with alot of replay value for me! Hope the second is as good.

Re: Batman: Arkham City

:lol Yeah that is the one getting me. And I remember having a _____ of a time with the one in the crumbly tower part of the sewers and I know I can't remember how to solve that one. :lol

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I think you're misunderstanding what Arkham Asylum is. It's not a place where they cure mental illness, there are no "patients". Arkham Asylum is where they send mentally deranged people who commit murder, it's where they send the worst of the worst. No one is cured in Arkham Asylum. They don't "treat patients".

What about the hospital area, though? I distinctly remember all the silly automated narration that discussed treatment facilities, suggesting there was at least one area of the asylum used for therapeutic purposes. Granted, Arkham Asylum is in nearly ever respect a parody of a true psychiatric hospital, but they seemed to at least keep up a facade of "treatment".

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I think both are correct. That is where they sent the worst of the worst, and they attempted to treat them there, but they never succeed. The thing with Arkham Asylum is that it is purely a comic book construct that changes to fit the needs of the story. Sometimes it is presented as a treatment center, other times just a holding cell for the "worst of the worst". Plus take a look at how nasty and decrepit the medical center and the mansion were. No way would a real place ever look like that, but it was great atmosphere. Sometimes realism has to be sacrificed for a good story. Finding the balance of the key and everyone has their own limit to suspension of disbelief. For me Arkham City is less silly than other things I've seen in comics.

Damn, you know a game is good when everyone gets excited over a picture.
