Re: Batman: Arkham City

I would love to buy an Arkham Asylum Batman.

:exactly: :lecture

I was thinking this the other day.. HT version would be awesome.

You could always buy the DC Direct Arkham Asylum figures.
It goes without saying that they're not Hot Toys standard but they are some very nice sculpts.
Got the Battle Damaged Batman myself and it's a great looking figure in person.

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I still dont get why the figures won't be out til january.

Re: Batman: Arkham City

Whats to get, the new game comes out around then and it's free hype for the figures.

DC Direct solicits both their toys and comic books month in advance. They have a set scheduele and January was the first opening for the figures. Its not really any different than HT or SS. Just because the sculpt is done and shown off doesn't mean they can send it straight tothe factory now.

I never got why it took so long to produce and ship a toy. I understand hot toys but this whole pending license approval thing is weird. Its batman how can you not approve of it right away.

The game comes out in fall 2011 its nowhere near around that time.

Last time I went to my local TFAW I asked about the figures and he said they should be arriving in 2-3 weeks.. Maybe he was blowing smoke up my skirt though because TFAW.com had them on preorder for January '11. Nevertheless I'll be going back in 2-3 weeks to check!

Re: Batman: Arkham City

IMO i dont care when these figures come out as long as I get them! :lol but that is not discounting the fact that I would like them sooner than later! Same with the game :D such a looooong wait :impatient:

Dont waist your time doing that. One thing i've witnessed while searching toys r us stores is that thier employees no nothing about figures or products. I called once about a movie masters joker once and the guy said they had it, so i got thier and they didnt even have any figures from the dark knight in stock.:gah:

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I gotta say that im not really digging the whole idea of "walling off a part of the city and just dumping criminals in there". It just makes no sense. One thing I liked about Arkham Asylum is that you could sort of see how this was a working asylum. As screwed up as parts of the place may be, it still had a pragmatic functionality to it. Patients were being treated there.

But it removes all of that with this new system. How are patients supposed to be treated if you just dump them all in there and leave them to thier own devices? Hell, how are they supposed to survive? With a bunch of dangerous criminals running loose, with no descrimination between level of danger these criminals pose or thier level of sanity, the plan seems to just be recepie for disaster on every single level.

And on top of that, why would you relocate the prison into the middle of the city itself? Seems like even if they could come up with a justification for this incredibly moronic plan, why would they bother building a new prison in the middle of the city. They could just as easily remove all staff from the existing asylum and let the criminals have the run of the place. Not only are they wasting tons of money by walling off a section of the city, but it dramatically increases the patient's threat to the rest of the city. With apsolutly no guard presence and no water to act as a barrier between them and the rest of Gotham, it seems like the warden is practically begging for the most dangerous criminals in there to stage a mass escape and overrun the city.

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I had the exact same thought on this as you ShadowX81.
But then I got to thinking that this is perhaps meant to be just a desperate temporary measure to house those criminals and psychotics until Blackgate and Arkham Asylum can be restored.

Re: Batman: Arkham City

Well there are armed guards along the wall and it's not about treating them, it is basically letting them kill each other off. But yeah, bottom line it doesn't make much sense. But it sounds damned cool. I wouldn't be surprised if the game makes a comment about Batman being opposed to this all along.

TFAW = Things from another world. Not Toys R us.

Re: Batman: Arkham City

I think also walling off part of the city is what happened/will happen in Nolan's films. The Narrows were lost to the Arkham outbreak in Batman Begins. Its not too much to assume all of the Narrows could now be used as an Arkham Island since its completely bridged off.
