The cool part, if the rumor is true: ROBIN! Hopefully, since it is early, a young **** Grayson.

Here's more new information about the game gathered from various places:
- "The Batman of Arkham City is Batman 5.0. He will punch out a guy without looking at him knowing exactly how many teeth he's just fractured just from the feeling from his knuckles. Our Batman is version 0.9." -Ben Mattes
- expect every boss encounter to be different
- "We really believe that we've made the coolest version of Deathstroke [in any media]. He's a wonderful counterpart to Batman." -Ben Mattes
- "Making Batman scary again is important. In later years Batman becomes very much part of the institution." -Mattes
- "'Arkham Quality' is not 'this feature is kinda cool', 'Arkham Quality' is 'this feature is perfect'. If its not perfect, it doesn't too in the box." -Mattes

The article also reveals just how seriously WB Games Montreal are taking this game by delving into two of the game features that they tried out and abandoned because they didn't live up to previous Arkham games.

The first is a dynamic weather system that was designed to affect freeflow combat. The gusts of wind from the encroaching blizzard would force thugs to stand still and cover their eyes, but also make it difficult for players to control Batman. Mattes said that they cut it because it "sucks". There was no indication that the dynamic weather system was removed though, just the winds affecting freeflow.

The second idea to be cut early was some kind of robotic drone that would hunt Batman during predator missions, but the developers decided that Batman shouldn't spend the whole of the predator sections on the defensive.

Overall, the article is a great read and the demo has gone a long way to make the writers feel good about WB Montreal's ability to pull off the Arkham prequel.

- WB Montreal thought that the only aspect of the previous games that was not developped enough was the detective parts, which was quite marginal. So they wanted to make this aspect of the game on par with the other aspects (fighting, predator) and to do that they needed to give the same dynamism to these phases.

- Batman is impulsive, overconfident as he still has to encounter an opponent on par with his strength. He is clever but does not think of everything, for example when interrogating a thug he can be dominated by violence and stun the thug before getting the information he wanted. The major difficulties he will have to deal with in the game will have a strong impact on his psychology and will make him change to the more realist and stoic Batman from the previous games.

- Black Mask is still rising, and want to show everyone is power by killing the Batman, who is still not well known by the public but already feared by criminals. Taking out this symbol is the best way to get respect and dominate the crime world.

- Rupert Thorne is mentionned (as well as Falcone)

- Some of the 8 assassins will be side missions, and we will not be finished with them from the first encounter.

- Unlocking location for the Batwing is a whole side mission : an unknown hacker has jammed the radio system and Batman need to restore it.

- New combat move : Batman can rush toward an ennemy while knocking another one on his path.

- Freeze boss fight from AC is the main model for Origins boss fights.

- Canceled : snow on rooftops made Batman slip. As it is important to feel in control, the team thought this was not a good idea for the player.

The Hud features a Storm Indicator. The game takes place during a massive snowstorm and the indicator warns you of incoming wind blasts. This also helps to explain the absence of civilians on the streets and why they would abandon their cars, engines still running, as well as lights still on.

The bridge is a fully playable area. There's no loading in between Old and New Gotham. You can walk from tip to tip if you wanted to in a seemless environment. So the bridge is a playable area.

The more new info we get the more excited I get about this game now. Seems like they're really pulling out all the stops to make this as good, if not better, than the previous games.

Definitely; the first part of that second quote is what really excites me. I hope the detective aspects of this game are difficult. That's one thing that I definitely agree about; they were lacking, and it felt less like I was doing anything that required me to think, and more like I was relying on my technology (as Batman). I feel like it'd be an even more fulfilling experience if I knew that I was not only able to master combat and stealth like Batman, but be as cunning as he was, as well.:lol

I also liked the stuff they were experimenting with. The weather system seems pretty cool, but I get why they didn't include a lot of it; nevertheless, it's nice to hear that, while they're still remaining reverent to the Arkham games, they're still experimenting with different things and not just riding Rocksteady's coat tails.

I think that music will should be more important here than ever before. I mean c'mon, it's winter in Gotham, you really need to go one step beyond with the soundtrack.

The game is already a failure then :( You can't recast Batman and expect this series to be the same. While I love the Arkhamverse, that big of news has me on the fence now. They need to delay this game ASAP, throw a skyscraper full of money at Conroy, and get him BACK NOW!

I get the impression it's not Conroy saying no, more them wanting someone else period. Which sucks. Conroy has proven in the past he can do a younger Bruce/Batman no problem.

Still, I'm willing to wait and see before passing judgement. When they replaced Harley in Arkham City I was majorly skeptical - but it didn't take me long at all to adjust to Tara Strong and I actually like her a lot now.
Granted, Batman is infinitely more important than Harley, and getting his voice right makes or breaks it (I'm talking to you Ben McKenzie in 'Batman: Year One') but I'm still willing to wait and see first.

I knew there was a reason they were being quiet about it. If it was Conroy, they'd have made a big deal about him returning to fill the role of the dark knight, and this is exactly what I was worried about. The bigger question, though, is who will be Batman?
