is it me or doesn't the exclusive make sense? Why is he holding that grappling hook on the stairs of what looks like the batcave?

This has been answered like 4 times already but Batman 1989 was the first appearance of the grapnel gun. The comics later adopted the idea from the film. It is an iconic tool that this film brought to the Batman franchise.

And who knows... maybe he practices the use of the thing in his cave.

This is why I am not ordering. I am trying to stay with comics PFs from DC. I rather get Lobo PF if it turns out well.

I am trying hard to do the same. I already cancelled MoS PF, and have so far resisted this.

I think I'll opt for Wonder Woman over this, just to stick with the comic book theme.

I hope the paint job on the portrait comes out better on the production pieces then the proto because it is killing what looks to be a pretty decent sculpt

So many baby's on here, don't like his face, don't like the turn of his head, why the grapple gun, why the stair case...wah wah wah.

Im gonna watch the movie tonight, eat a big bowl of popcorn and order this guy! At the end of the day, everyone will know what movie this from.

I don't care about this REALLY I wouldn't have ordered it anyway you cut it, but the face is one of the most important parts of the sculpt for this piece because it is such an iconic look. Getting it wrong because of the paint job is a fail IMHO... And since I don't care about how this looks, stating that doesn't make me a baby m8...it just means I have an opinion

Still didnt decide, he looks good in the vid but off in the pics,,, hmmmmm

I got a good feeling about this one though. Everyone knows sideshow can't photograph figures properly. Plus plenty of time to do some tweaking for the final product.

Video is more indicative of in person looks than pictures. Lighting/flash in still shots can drastically change the look of a subject.

I too was planning to only purchase comic PFs of heroes (no villains) from the DC and Marvel Lines. But there's no way I can pass on this. Now I'm considering backing out of the Capt. America Allied Charge PF to fund/have space for more Batmen.

I was looking at those "In progress" sculpts and comparing them with the proto shown by SSC, and to me it seems the Keaton face in the "In Progress" Cowl head is not the same as the "In progress" Keaton head sans cowl.
However the Proto's Keaton face (Chin and eyes) do seem to match up to the "In progress" Keaton head sans cowl, but the "In Progress" Cowl sculpt does not. Maybe in the end SSC ask to have the cowl sculpted over the IP Keaton head, and that is why the cowl looks so bulky.
I much prefer the IP Cowl sculpt then what Im seeing in the Proto.

This looks pretty damn good to me. I am probably going to pass because I want Bale Bats PF whenever that hits and I don't want 3 batmans in my collection. My only problem with this piece from the SSC pics is the way is package is sculpted. From the front, it looks huge and over exaggerated. It looks fine from the side but just the way the folds are sculpted around it, it looks like he's a little too happy about walking down to the batcave.

The cowl is that thick in the film. I think a lot of people are working off nostalgia or "Returns"...

Haha...I actually did mention that the steps were inaccurate in an earlier post, but with so many pages in this thread I understand how it could be missed. Besides, the base is my most minor nitpick with this piece, just something I noticed too.

I realize that the PF steps are metal, not stone since seeing better photos. I understand why they had to spiral them to fit into the space constraint of the PF stand though, so I don't mind it that much, but like you, I also noticed the inaccuracy of it. ;)

Oh yeah, I must have missed that. This thread moves way too fast. :lol

But yeah, I don't care that they're not accurate to "teh source" but it was something I noticed instantly. My nerdy, **** retentive mind was like, "THOSE AREN'T THE STEPS THAT LEAD UP TO THE COMPUTER CONSOLE". Regardless, I still love the idea though. Like you said, they had to be implemented that way and I love that they don't just stop on the steps he's on but spiral around the stalagmite. Besides, who knows what other facilities, access points and command centers he had in the cave. Those bats under neath the platform are also a really nice touch. I think this is the best possible interpretation of the Batcave that they could have done. Seeing as how the '89 Batcave is my favorite of the 7 film lairs, I really dig the choice.

That Cathedral concept you mentioned would have been cool though. I really want a proper, bloodied Batman. The ketchup mouth on the Hot Toys figure just doesn't cut it. They could have had your idea and maybe have added Vicki's shoe or something on the wooden landing.
