The origin of the blue is actually kind of funny. Bob Kane originally had the suit as black and grey but since back then the only way to show highlights was to use a different color to keep with the mostly night time theme of the book blue was used as the highlights for the suit. As Different artists went on to draw the Suit the blue spread to become the color of the suit itself instead of just highlights. So by the 1950's Batman was completely blue and grey. Then in 1964 as part of a revamp of the character the yellow oval was added to the chest symbol as part of his "new Look". Twenty years Later in both Batman: Year One and the Dark Knight Returns Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli would take Batman back to his original roots and make the suit Black and Grey with no yellow oval, since then he's been drawn both ways, Sometimes Dark Blue and Sometimes Black depending on the artists and writers on the book.

So while Black and Grey was always there, the blue was basically taken out of context but then for years became a mainstay.

If I could I would rep you. Thank you for this post :goodpost:

Kind of like Hulk. He was originally grey but problems with ink turned him green which then became the running change.

I don't think that matters since they have King Hulk, Gladiator Hulk, Green Hulk, Grey Hulk and Hulk Maquette all available for order.

All those edition sizes of hulk wane in comparison to the 9000 Batman pfs already for sale on the website.

Theres gonna be far more Batmans than there are hulks.

Look at what happened with Superman -- they had Comic, Movie Man of Steel, and Chris Reeves all at the same time.

The ES was lowered for one of those and the other is on discount.

Exactly, with Hulk if i remember right it was something to do with the printing of grey ink at the time.

I like the explanation for the yellow oval in the Batman Journal... It gives the criminals something to shoot at... Where the heaviest part of his cavalier was... That way they would not aim for his head.. In the dark they would aim for the thing they could see best and not just randomly shoot where he might get hit somewhere more fatal.

Yeah it's not the real reason... But in Batman world it makes sense...

Something about taking the gun fire away from Robin also... Which is sort of silly since he gave Robin a very colorful suit LOL!

I am considering doing a change of head for the original PF that kind of has a similar flavor as the new head sculpt for this has.

P.S. I don't if the will be interest in it seeing as there have beenm so many heads done for the original Batman PF.

The MOS and Reeve pfs were never well received when you check their threads. Comic pf was universally praised.

For the ex hand which is holding batarang:

I still wished we can just purchase the new head and just use a COH instead of buying the same statue with a new head and minor repaint. :(

Instead of complaining you should take your money and spend it on a commissioned head. It would be more productive.

Yeah I have to agree CBG... Either pay for a custom head or buy the Keaton or Arkham Bats... Its not like you have to get this one.. There are other pieces to get and will be more in the future.. Just show some patience... Besides it just sold out today... Edition number of 350

Huh? No way... I'm going to check now.

Update: just checked... :slap still plenty to go around most likely 8000 more. Maybe I can buy just the head from someone selling it on release who won't need the head. Hopefully like 100.00 of less.

Listen I know you are just seeking attention, but I am willing to bite this once. The main selling point of this statue will be new head. The chances that someone will sell it for less than $200 is highly unlikely. Now I may do custom head with a similar vibe, but asking for any professionally painted head for less than $100 is actually insulting for the painter.

Lower than $200, wah... that is a dream come true.. hahaha...

Maybe Bat just want to get rid of Robin, that's why Robin suit is like glow in dark. First to shoot at hahaha
