One of my main criticisms of Winter Soldier was shakycam. I was able to criticize the film on that level because everything else worked so well, but really, it was a minor quibble with the film as a whole. And there, it actually made sense in that the directors were using it to put the audience in a frantic action situation. It just wasn't my cup of tea stylistically because it obscures a lot of what is actually going on and we miss out on some of the great choreography.

With Man of Steel, the issues were so numerous and overwhelming that camera behavior didn't even register all that much with me. I was way too distracted by the off-putting tone and story.

That's brilliant Jye. :lol

When are you coming to the states, want to join me on my shaky cam horror movie project. Story is almost done, it's about a religious single mother having to do porn to sustain her son after her husband died leaving her financially and emotionally broke. Should be fun. :lol

So you're actually making 'Hope of Depression'? I thought that was just your joke name for MOS. :lol

There wasn't anything wrong with the tone.

I never said a tool needs to be restricted to one purpose Gasper, it's all about the hands holding the tool, their understanding what they are doing with it. That's why people have issues with those scenes of Snyder's. He used handheld camera in the wrong places. It was distracting and damaging to the narrative for many. That's bad direction.

But I'm not saying you shouldn't like those scenes. It's all subjective.
You're trying to convince me it was wrong to use the shaky cam there, but I gave you a perfectly valid reason why it's correct, sorry, we'll have to agree to disagree and somebody better give us a cookie or a medal for not insulting each other so far :lol

No, I was not trying to convince you of anything.
I was discussing the use of handheld camera from a cinematic and narrative perspective, based on comments by others that it was used incorrectly at times by Snyder in MOS.

I noticed it myself when attending a preview screening at Warners. There were audible sighs at a couple of points during the screening. The common belief at the time was that it would be corrected or stabilised in a couple of shots because it looked like a mistake. As this was an unfinished work print. But no, it went on general release with those shots intact, several were removed or stabilised in the final conform, it's fine in a lot of the movie, but there are a couple of shots in particular which look like an unintentional error.

As Kara pointed out its the least of the movies problems. And who am I to tell you what to like or not like. That was never my intention. What I can tell you though as someone who works in the industry there were technical errors and misjudged directorial decisions made all the way through the movie, not creative decisions but technical ones.

@Rory Okay, some people sighed, they didn't like stuff, is it a stretch to assume some people didn't sigh and liked stuff? Some stuff was removed because it was considered an error, could it be that the stuff that stayed was intentional and wasn't not perceived as an error? After all, it's not like, "ooops I forgot to change a pivotal scene, after everybody agreed it should be changed, darn it, too bad I had one single chance to do it and it passed instantly" :lol

I don't know what to tell you dude, I'm trying to meet you halfway here, cause we both know we can go on forever :lol

I don't know what's going on, but anyway, I like what they did with batmans voice, that's what they should've done with bale, tech enhanced not that ridiculous doodoo. I think af fleck is gonna pull it off and all the haters are gonna be on his D just like it was with bale when he first started.
