It was genius. Not only that, Bruce has been so scarred and traumatized by the death of his parents to the brink of psychosis his entire life, Martha was an instant PTSD trigger.

Agreed.
I loved how you could see Bruce struggling with all that was going on, realizing what he almost did.

Yeah, that was brilliant. I don't think I've ever seen that in a comic or in any cartoon. I never even thought about that...so obvious, yet so great. And I love that it was Batman who got to save Martha. :monkey2

Is it possible that Suicide Squad takes place before Man of Steel and Batman v Superman? Seems like the events of Man of Steel really broke Bruce Wayne. I'm under the impression that he didn't start killing or branding enemies until BvS because Alfred seems taken back and shocked when he sees the news article in the paper about the branding. That's when he has his cruel speech. Sounds to me like the old Batman didn't do this kind of stuff. Maybe aliens parred with the death of his parents and the death of Robin finally pushed him over the edge and that's why Joker is still out there. Or maybe Joker finally bites it at Batman's hands in Suicide Squad?

I loved the branding bit by the way. That was a new element to Batman that's never existed before that I thought was refreshing. Made complete sense to me when you consider the fact that Bruce Wayne was walking out of The Mark of Zorro when his parents die. Zorro is obviously the inspiration for Batman. Zorro has the money, the dual identities, the cave, the "Batmobile" (Tornado) and now, the mark of Batman with the branding. I was amused by that comment that those guys are marked for life and are probably going to be killed in prison because they bear the bat insignia. The movie was bland in a lot of parts, but that jumped out at me and I actually cringed at that thought. It's a genuinely good idea, so kudos to whoever thought it up

Too bad about Eisenberg though. Missed oppurtunity not having Batman brand his newly shaved head considering I doubt we ever see this Luthor on screen again. I knew for months about Batman sneaking into Lex's cell and not branding him, but I've always imagined a better moment where Batman does it Inglorious Basterds style. Would have been great.

This pathetic version of Luthor deserved it.

You know what shot I love? Lois holding Superman's body while Batman and Wonder Woman stand on either side. The music is fantastic there, too.

It grows on you, lex does. In all reality what made me dislike him was his damn villain music. It's out of touch

Did your theater had this?

Agreed on all counts. And he gets some catharsis by saving her.

Ooooh I know right? I has a chance to save his mom this time around....

God dammit and this is a 30 something on RT :rotfl I tell you, this movie made me drop whatever little authority I gave critics over my opinion anymore...

I must say, one thing that does bug me about the movie are the flashbacks to earlier scenes, particularly the Wayne murder during the "Martha" revelation. I feel that robbed the scene of some of its emotional impact. We don't need to see those shots again (as cool as they are... particularly the gun breaking the pearls), and I think Zack could/should trust the audience a little more. He's a fan of flashbacks, though. Personally, I'm not. Oh well. It is what it is. But if I had a chance at editing the movie that's the first thing I would do... remove the in-movie flashbacks.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I could maybe see if it was just a straight-up rehash of the origin that we've always seen, but the fact that they made a point of having Thomas call out her name gives you all the exposition you need. I also can't help picturing Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Flashpoint Batman and Lauren Cohan as
Joker.
:lol

You know, there is kind of an out for the Eisenberg/Luthor thing. He's Lex, Jr. Yes, I know it's directly hinted that Lex Sr is dead (he even calls himself an "orphan"). It's a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

The Flash. And Batman's dreams weren't dreams nor was Flash's warning. Someone is projecting messages & glimpses from the future onto Batman as dreams (which has been done before via tachyon particles in the comics) and Flash is telling Batman that 1) Lois Lane is the key, 2) that he was right about the danger Supes poses & 3) that he must find the other members of the JLA.

This all points to the INJUSTICE storyline being the plot for JLA. In INJUSTICE Joker kills Lois & Supes goes crazy as a result - blaming Batman for not having dealt with Joker in the past. Supes then becomes a warlord for Darkseid (as seen in the Knightmare sequence).*

I gathered the same from what I saw. Remember? "He's coming...the bell has been rung". [emoji106]

I heard sobbings, loud sobbings in this scene on my screenings, I teared up a bit but I was weirded out.

I think my personal favorite scene was the camera panning to see the painting upside down. And the Superman montage. my favorite action scenes were Batman vs Supes and Bats vs Thugs.

Did anyone notice how the scene of Supes saving the girl in the fire in Mexico, kneeling down to return the girl to her family, people reaching out to touch him, and then Superman emerging from the skull painted faces mirrored the knightmare scene in MoS where he sinks into the skulls? It made my jaw drop, honestly.

I kind of cringed at his whole "ding ding ding ding ding ding" thing, so, I may have liked that scene better had it ended with him screaming in agonizing pain.:lol

I hadn't even considered that, but that is an awesome observation.

I need to watch MoS again now. I barely remember it :lol

I made my wife watch MOS, and she thanked me since the whole movie made sense to her, in all reality I totally love how they implemented it as the opening act for this movie. It has the best integration by far

I don't think they'll kill the joker in SS. He's way too popular, but I wouldn't mind Batman branding the Joker's forehead...getting rid of that stupid tattoo :lol The Luthor/Batman in jail scene felt out of place, considering how at that point they were focusing on the funeral and then we see Bruce and Diana talking...or was that before the jail scene?

You know what shot I love? Lois holding Superman's body while Batman and Wonder Woman stand on either side. The music is fantastic there, too.

Yeah, I liked the funeral too and the black casket with the silver logo. I also loved when Batman said to Superman, "Martha won't die tonight"...I think that's what he said...or was it, "I won't let Martha die"? Either way, it was so good. I bet Kevin Smith was crying when he saw that :lol

Yeah, this is definitely a Lex you wouldn't mind seeing his face punched off. :lol

There "dinging" was one of the few creative choices that left me like "what the hell." The random police horse in the dust cloud was one, and the other that stood out to me was that 10 second close-up of Lois and Clark's leaky faucet.:lol
