But it's not about being bigger, they can still do small stuff. Plus the Joker has rarely been a doomsday device kind of villain, he's better off in smaller, more personal stories. So he remains unaffected imo.

I don't know, there are a bunch meta humans and this Batman has no problem killing thugs, so how is The Joker still alive? It just seems that after watching Batman go at it with Sups or Doomsday...maybe even Darkseid. The Joker is just some dude with bad tattoos :lol Maybe if they make a smaller solo Batman film he can still be effective as a villain.

Question... So the film kept showing what looked like a burnt down Wayne manor... Does this happen in the comics or are we supposed to somehow tie this with TDK trilogy.. Like Batman came back after hanging with Catwoman for awhile ... I know it's not supposed to be exact sequel. It just seemed to go out of it way to show us that building... Of course I would have liked to see how Bruce explained coming back form the dead...

I am not saying it is definite.. But perhaps it's a way you can except the other films as a part of the Universe just fill in the blanks for yourself :)

OR has Wayne Manor get burned down in the Comics I don't recall that happening but I have not read every Batman story.

Wayne Manor has been destroyed a number of times in the comics.

Here it's just a symbolic thing, really. It's a burnt out husk and falling apart. But they may actually explain what happened in one of the solo Batman films, because Affleck can play 5-10 years younger than he did in this.

It's not related to the TDK trilogy, I reckon something horrible happened and now Wayne manor is all burnt down and crumbling... Same as Bats/Bruce.

That would be nice to see how it happened. Maybe it will be in Affleck's solo film.

Also... anyone catch something along the lines of "How many good people stayed good." Could he mean Jason Todd?

I dodn't even see how The Joker is a top villain or a threat in this universe after watching BVS...or how is he even still alive :lol
Yeah, how Batman kills all these thugs like he's doing the laundry, but Joker's still alive and in Arkham. . .????????? :lol

But certainly, Batman should be able to shift his focus. It's like human nature. We all know that we are destroying the global environment, nuclear proliferation continues and threatens to end all human life, etc. etc. But many of us worry about comic book movies in our free time. Can't Batman similarly divorce himself from the big issues, to slum it with the Riddler and Scarecrow every now and then?

This thing where each sequel has to out do the last movie with high stakes also bugs me. I yearn for a smaller Batman story or Superman movie but we're never going to get that.

Look how humble Batman 1989 and The Dark Knight look in comparison to Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice. Instead of the hero climbing up a Cathedral all battered and beaten or trying to stop two ferries from blowing up during a hostage situation you have THE CITY IS GOING TO BLOW UP, A GIANT ALIEN INVASION IS HAPPENING and DOOOMSDAY an' NUKES. Tone it down. I've mentioned the same thing with the Marvel movies. Thankfully instead of an Alien invaded New York or a giant Sokovia island meteor impacting earth, you have Earth's Mightiest heroes duking it out in an airport. Or so it seems.

Here's hoping Suicide Squad is good. Honestly, as long as they tell an actual story and it isn't a disjointed mess, it can't be as bad as BvS. It's a great concept and I hope they follow through with it.

That's the problem having Batman in these kind of films period.. He is realistically hopelessly outgunned... I know everyone liked to say that Batman would win every fight but really... Come on... He is more reality based and I was not sure I would buy it with him in a movie like this. Thankfully I did.

Superman is always going to have something big and mean as a threat.. He is just too powerful and I don't think I want to watch another Earthquake film :)

But he literally did almost nothing against DD except firing his gun once from afar, they showed Bats sooooo out of his league it was refreshing to see, and even with god knows how much prep time, armor, guns a kryptonite his Batarmor still lasted but minutes :lol I'm pretty sure he's still fit for street-level threats...

Aaaand he must then have a reason to not kill this Joker :^) ........

Ok cool. Thanks. BTW Irish I don't know if you saw my posts but I did like the film :)

I thought even Batman's eluding Doomsday's eye rays was unbelievable!

Who was it in the dream sequence that was telling Batman that he was right (right after the desert dream)?

The Flash. And Batman's dreams weren't dreams nor was Flash's warning. Someone is projecting messages & glimpses from the future onto Batman as dreams (which has been done before via tachyon particles in the comics) and Flash is telling Batman that 1) Lois Lane is the key, 2) that he was right about the danger Supes poses & 3) that he must find the other members of the JLA.

This all points to the INJUSTICE storyline being the plot for JLA. In INJUSTICE Joker kills Lois & Supes goes crazy as a result - blaming Batman for not having dealt with Joker in the past. Supes then becomes a warlord for Darkseid (as seen in the Knightmare sequence).*

I enjoyed that, a sight of Wayne manor alone tells you all you need to know about Bruce/Bats. The specific story bits can always be filled in a solo movie.

Yep, that most definitely is a nod to Jason Todd, and other times Bats has been betrayed.

I must say, one thing that does bug me about the movie are the flashbacks to earlier scenes, particularly the Wayne murder during the "Martha" revelation. I feel that robbed the scene of some of its emotional impact. We don't need to see those shots again (as cool as they are... particularly the gun breaking the pearls), and I think Zack could/should trust the audience a little more. He's a fan of flashbacks, though. Personally, I'm not. Oh well. It is what it is. But if I had a chance at editing the movie that's the first thing I would do... remove the in-movie flashbacks.

Did you like the fight between Bats and Sups? I remember you said it was worth the price of admission, but I thought the fight sucked.

Yeah, I love the idea that Wayne has had enough and has decades worth of pent up angst that he wants to direct towards Superman. Superman is that catalyst. I love the little scene in the dilapidated Wayne Manor where Alfred is trying to convince Bruce not to confront Superman and Bruce has that great speech about the first generation of Wayne's being fur trap hunters. Comparing his war on crime and criminals to weeds was brilliant.

Batman is that hunter. Then to see Batman turn on the signal and taunt Superman with that sadistic grin like "come get me" after Superman warned him never to return is just golden. I love the box trap Batman created, like how he outlined how he would lure Superman to the center of the building. Most of the fight is great when you take just the event out of context. When The kryptonite dosages wear off and Batman ruins his gauntlet and fist off of Superman's chin? That's good stuff. A lot of the hits and reactions from both Affleck and Cavill were brutal and real and I've loved the bit where Batman's cowl and voice is damaged exposing Bruce Wayne.

But like Man of Steel, there's ZERO restraint when there needs to be. Some of it is just too much like Superman flailing around hitting columns or Batman picking him up and throwing him. It's like Snyder is a kid and has Batman and Superman action figures and is just filming every possible thing he can do with those figures in this environment as he's smashing them together. It needed restraint, just like the Zod and Superman fight. It's possible to go too far with throwing people through walls and buildings where they come off as rag dolls instead of real people. Most of that fight is great though, it's just too bad I didn't care since there's nothing good leading up to this pay off in the story apart from Bruce's cool training montage.

Then again, the fight looks like a masterpiece when you compare it to the cluttered Doomsday v Superman v Wonder Woman v Batman (and Lois going to retrieve the spear) BS about 30 mins later.

Yeah, I'm thinking Leto's Joker is Jason Todd.

Welp... that just might be it :lol

I thought they should have removed the Wayne murders from the beginning and kept the revelation flashback scene in. I think it would have played out better.
