Hey, I've missed a lot of the specific discussions in this thread so forgive me if I'm late to this but do we know what Luthor's characterization is based on?
Only 6!
So a movie based on a D-List team with a space raccoon, a solo based on a guy who shrinks and a forthcoming movie based on a sorcerer who hasn't had a solo in 20+ years is playing it safe, whereas movies based on DC's elite are a game changer?
EDIT: Nah, it ain't worth it...
Nah, Spider-Man exists in some from of Limbo alongside Batman and his dead parents. Kidding aside, it's really strange that they're so fixated on his high school years, when in the comics he was out of there by issue 20-something or so (IIRC that is).
And here I thought you were a fan.
That's a lot. I've never seen a film 6 times in theaters.

I'm going for my 4th viewing this friday night.
One can never get enough cinematic Batman, or angry Superman for that matter.

Based on the actor's own personality. His own jumpiness and twitches...
I'm not joking.
When they got to the last scene in the jail cell and he was ranting with snot coming out his nose the whole performance made sense to me. They turned Luthor into Renfield from Dracula. As far as his personality goes, the best I can come up with is young Luthor from Geoff's Superman: Secret Origin.

Six times?! I saw TFA twice but didn't really get anything out of the second viewing that I didn't get with the first. Definitely wouldn't have paid to see it on SIX separate occasions
Episode VII was the only movie I went to the theater twice for
I've seen a fair few twice. It's not a particularly exclusive list
I've never seen a movie still in 1st place coming up into its 3rd weekend being considered a bomb.
