I like that angle...Lex feeling like he's the one physically assaulting Superman.

Sure his Doomsday creation put himself at risk but history has proven that geniouses have always placed themselves at risk, be it physically, financially, socially, legally or academically.

Now add a layer of psychotic anti social narcissistic jealously behavior to the equation and you get this Lex.

Oh well, I don't need the extended to convince me to like this movie, theatrical was enjoyable enough but i'm very curious to see why WB felt it was needed or if it will change opinions on it.

Look at Aliens, it certainly didn't need the extended for it to be great.

But some could argue that BvS is in desperate need of one.

alien 3 was ultimately fixed because of the extended edition

I think all three Hobbit films were vastly improved by their extended editions. Of course for *those* WB didn't cheap out on doing the additional footage in 3D.

I don't think T2 was particularly improved by the Special Edition but then I actually haven't seen the theatrical cut in years so I'm going on a distant memory of preferring the theatrical. For Aliens I need the special edition, it's the one I always watched by choice.

Outside of needless pre-invasion colony stuff and pointless derelict discovery the director's cut is better.
Theatrical just feels incomplete without Ripley's character development and some other stuff.

Agreed. I wish there was a cut with everything from the director's cut except for the pre-invasion colony scene, which I think took away from the mystery.

But the theatrical cut is still amazing in its own right.

Sometimes extended editions are not really needed, and sometimes they are. Aliens and T2 didn't need one AOU definitely does.

Absolutely. The theatrical cut of ALIENS is the superior film. It trims fat, some poorly acted/written scenes "Hey Ripley, check it out," and as cool as the sentry guns are they do add a nice cushion between the heroes and the aliens, taking away a little bit of the tension that was present in the TE. That being said even though the Special Edition is slightly inferior it too is my preferred version of the movie, I'll take the bad that goes with the good in that case just because I like the film so much.

Nah I've always liked the early colony scene, gives a sense of what was lost and how ''unclouded by delusions of morality'' the Aliens are - i.e the kids probably met the same fate as anyone else

I much prefer the theatrical version of Superman The Movie over the special edition even though I vividly remember seeing a version on tv as a little kid that had the same integrated footage as the special edition. For years I kept wondering why I had the memory of Superman saving Ms Tessmacher from a tiger pit. :lol

Extended are my favorites for:

Aliens
T2
STM
Punisher (Jane)
Fantastic Four 1
Daredevil
Good Bad and the Ugly
LOTR Trilogy (can go either way though with FOTR)
Hobbit Trilogy
Spiderman 2
X-Men 1
Commando
Robocop
Conan the Barbarian (Arnold)
The Exorcist
My Bloody Valentine (Original)

I have never seen Alien 3 Extended. :monkey2

You can snag it pretty cheap at Best Buy. Just Alien 3 if you already have the first 2. Or the Anthology which is super cheap now. 25-30 bucks topps. It's also out of print now, so you should get on it.
