Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I think the pants look makes sense for her superhero costume, but her first outings and when she's in mythological places, she would be in the traditional Amazon warrior armor, just like how Clark just wore his Kryptonian under armor in his first outing. I'm assuming he might do something subtle, to say he's Earth's champion, like brighten the blue up a bit. Whatever the outfits are, if I love the character in the movie, I'll have a fondness for it. Darkseid had a such a dweeby look with his mini-skirt, broken up by a silver belt, yet as soon as I got to know the character and heard Michael Ironside's voice (Superman TAS), I can't see his design being anything but intimidating!

New set photo. Just in case I've put it in a spoiler tag but it's part of a statue:

any reason it's shaped that way? Is it the opposite of this shot?

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Clearly neither is the case, the pose is different.

I wonder what the motif on the statue's suit means. If that's a motif for a new suit or just a statue thing.

The reason I put it into spoiler tags is because I suspect that's a part of the statue that will be put up in metropolis at the end of BvS. Doesn't Superman traditionally have a statue of him holding the planet or something...?

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Considering the tone of the film, I thought it would make sense for the people in this universe to glorify his execution of Zod. . .so that's the most logical statue.

I don't know anything about him holding up a planet, like Atlas. There is a globe on top of the Daily Planet usually. Ones I'm familiar with from the comics were the one from Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow:

and there was one after the fight with Doomsday, but pretty sure it was just a generic statue of him.

I most stories the statue is put up for him at his grave to mark it. After he comes back from his healing coma, they just left it up. The statue itself varies from artist to artist. Some make it just a giant Superman Symbol. Others make it a statue of him holding an eagle or the planet.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I can only assume Superman forces the public to build a statue of him in order to pay him proper fealty. Definitely appropriate to sculpt the neck snappage, so folks can always be reminded of what will happen if they ever defy his iron will.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Yeah! Superman is getting a statue just like Batman did in TDKR!

:yuck

Well, atleast a statue is appropriate for Superman though (even though I don't think this latest Superman is very heroic or deserving of one). I loled hard when they unveiled a statue for the supposedly "silent guardian", "Dark Knight".

How can you say that? IntotheVoid says that was one of the most emotionally poignant moments in the history of movies.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Certainly not more than it needs major emergency response followed by years of reconstruction :lol

I know it would probably never happen, but I'd love to see Clark riding his bike through a destroyed Metropolis and entering a library, where he proceeds to learn everything about architecture at super speed, then we just see him whizzing around Metropolis, reconstructing buildings and saving people who are trapped under rubble and so forth, all in a matter of minutes. I wonder what people would say, then?:lol

I'm not sure why it's so hard to believe. As far as they know, this is a guy who sacrificed himself in a nuclear explosion in order to save the city (or, at least try; I'm sure everybody wound up with Cancer and birth defects, anyway).

He'll protect their families from genocidal tyrants?:dunno

The statue with the globe is in fact the statue of Jor-el and Lara in the fortress of solitude. They're holding a replica of Krypton...
