I choked up when Nance(sp.) left the chopper on his own and his team mates followed him.

"Hector, you're the bravest marine I know." Then he repels down... Good scene. Lots of cliches but it was a fun movie...

In terms of the camera work it had a good realistic (District 9) feel and it was definitely Black Hawk Down esque...

I don't understand why if you hated it you would see it again. Also don't understand why you couldn't make out the frames. yea there was shaky camera footage but I don't think as much as you think. The footage that was shaky just made it seem like you were in the midst of it. I actually thought of your post during the movie. Kind of said to myself that you were nuts for thinking there was so much shaky footage in there.

Seat choice can definitely impact enjoyment.

So I just came from the movie and I thought it was amazing man! I'll never listen to the critics again (specially Roger Ebert, that damn IDIOT !). First thing I wanted to do was get a Harvey Dent headsculpt and add some military gear and bash a SSgt. Michael Nantz. Does anybody know if I can find a box set with that exactly uniform used in the movie?

^ I always give movies a second chance. Even crappy one's.

The thing is, if you sit up close, and at an angle that is not lined up with the screen, you really cant see anything. You have to whip your head back and fourth to make out the characters, and when all that is just happening, it gets frustrating.

That was the biggest problem with the movie to me. So like I said, i'll give it a second chance.

Yes, I can certainly understand that this movie has to be seen from a distance. I went to a weekday matinee so it was easy for me to get a seat way in the back. I saw it on imax as well so being in the back was even more critical. I know that seeing it in imax and in the front row would have absolutely taken the fun out of watching this movie. You are right that there is way too much to take in from that perspective.

Oh, and the scenes that got to me were both of those mentioned and when the SSgt had trouble consoling Hector when his dad died but stumbled through it anyway AND when he was sounding off the names, ranks, and service numbers of the men who died serving under him in the previous war that he was in...particularly when he got to the brother of the guy who was hating on him.

Saw this today--really fantastic movie, the critics were wrong on this one.

There were only two things I didn't like--one was with how close the camera is to everything, even at the beginning there's way too many closeups---it is gritty, but that could have been toned down a bit.

The other thing was at the very end, where they get to the new command center, and instead of taking a break, they all gear up again to go fight. I appreciate that they want to do that, but it's reckless, they're injured and exhausted, and that's a bad situation to be in, brave was going to take out the big alien ship to disable their drones, this was just stupid.

I saw transforemers all the way at the front of the theater and i couldnt see not a damn thing so i saw it the next day and it was way better.

What dumbass would sit up front to see a movie. Let alone some self proclaimed movie student :rotfl

Someone who had no seats left??? :dunno

I'm no student. I'm just someone who wants to make flicks. Why is that such a crime today? :lol

It's like everyone's go to insult. Yes, I want to learn how to make movies. Yes, I study ____ about how to make movies. Yes, I make short films.

Do I know how to make a good movie yet? ____ ____ing ____ NO! :lol

But I will. Oh...I will. :wave

Also, I did sorta feel something when the Marines came down....but I felt they were a little sketchy at times. At one point, going after him for THAT issue, and then cheering him on, and then talking behind his back. It got a little....silly. Could've done without the back and forth.

Also...."None of that matters now". Ugh. Ruined a somewhat decent speech.

Others may disagree...but being a Marine Veteran myself I saw this as absolutely true to life.

We did this in Iraq. (Army though) We'd get back from patrol, another squad would be going out for a mission and request additional support....no time to chill. Gear up, move out, and draw fire.

I didn't either, but I heard the movie is really great.
