All good points Gekko. That is what I love about this show - I really feel for the characters.
Gaeta - I hated what he was doing - but could see his point of view. It would be hard to suddenly welcome and work with cylons who destroyed the majority of your people. But what it comes down to is that if anyone is going to survive they have to learn to work together. They still have the other cylons to fight against and those who truly want peace and a hope of a future have to think ahead in order to stay ahead.

Damn I love this show. :D

I do think the writers were thinking about how flawed Adama and Roslyn are. If they were as "good" as traditional TV heroes, there would never be an uprising where so many of the soldiers were willing to follow Gaeta. The fact that loyalties were shifting was explored, but I would have liked to have seen more done with why so many would turn their backs on their rightful leaders.

The rip in the hull (or was it the FTL drive?) is a mystery - could it be the Cylons WERE sabotaging? If the drive had spun up would Galactica have exploded?

I agree.... I think it shows the strength of the writing. Adama and co aren't truly "right" or "good" in the basic sense, nor is Gaeta truly "wrong" or "evil". They just believe in different things. Gaeta believed in the letter of the law, no deviations. And the world seen by him was very black and white, no room for slight deviations. Adama and Roslin have had to bend the rules for society to continue, as well as out of sheer desperation. So a clash was inevitable...

Gaeta made a mistake by siding with Zarek, because Zarek was willing to go much further and do things that could be considered truly evil to achieve his ends. In siding with him, he ultimately gave up on everything.

That said I was both happy and sad to see them die. At first I was just so filled with emotions of revenge that I wanted to see them die horribly, but after that died down I felt sad about it. And that shows how great the writing is, they can make good characters do horrible things but yet still retain humanity.

Wholeheartedly, Gaeta made a HUGE mistake siding with Zarek, but Zarek I think, knew it from the start. Zarek was just using Gaeta's ill will towards the cylon as the Colonial Pawn he needed in order to put his Coup into effect. At many times, Gaeta was questioning Zarek's orders of violence, but backed down. He was in a mindset that the current fleet's situation was still under the rule of law of the Colonies, but the Colonies are dead, it's just humanity left.

They can't live by the same rules and regulations that they did before the Cylon's attack on the Colonies. Adama and Roslin understand this and knew that rules must be bent and some broken in order for humanity to survive. It's just sad that the Gaeta character couldn't see this before the end. I totally expected a long rant by Adama to Gaeta explaining this and then Gaeta turning on Zarek and killing him and then doing himself. I was waiting for that to happen, but the way the show ended was great as well.

I LOVE how this show can really make you think about this stuff. It isn't cut and dry, no black and white. The moral and ethical concerns really show up in every character on the show and I love it.

Have any of us talked about or wondered how Ellen will react when she learns of Saul and the Six's baby? The potential blowout could tremendous.

I was wondering about that damage myself. Perhaps a stress fracture from too much use? Is Galactica going to make it through the season? Good stuff.

I don't think it's really been discussed - but it has been brought up. I can't wait to see what happens....and what this truth is that Ellen knows.....and her resurrecting and realizing that Saul was the one who killed her....will she seek revenge? Will she help him and the others? So many possibilities!! :D

I'm so glad they didn't kill Adama. When Baltar had that vision of Adama being shot but you didn't know it was a vision at first I got scared. Glad to see Felix taken out.

^I find it highly unlikely that they would kill off the first billed member of the cast before the final episode. But then again, I've been wrong about things before.

Very sad to see Gaeta go. He was a victim of circumstance.
I think those of you who think Ellen's coming back as the 12th Cylon are way off. She's a Red Herring

But they've already showed you that she's the final cylon. Even the commercials for the show have been showing you that she's the last. I don't know.....

And the interview with Ron Moore about that episode they said that she absolutely is the final cylon.

The fact is the final five cylons age. I believe that Starbuck is a younger version of the Ellen model. And if Ellen died and came back looking 50 it would not make sense.

Well, they already showed her in the resurrection pod waking up, looking just as she did when Tigh killed her.

I love having HD channels and a TIVO. We get the east coast times so BSG is waiting for me when I get home for work.

Yes Sir !!!!! We just got the Sci-Fi HD about a month ago and I love it that BST is now on at 7:00pm instead of 10:00pm. Now I don't have to wait for BSG to air before I go out on Fridays, I can go out early now :rock
