The only reason I don't mind this show ending is because it is going out before jumping the shark and I have the blu ray uber box set to look forward to , so I can sit and watch the whole thing again.

I am really looking forward to Caprica, but yes, I will definately miss new BSG eps.

me too,but to be honest i haven't really loved the show since season 2. 3 and 4 were great, but just not the same to me.

I like each season equally. Season 4 had some terrific moments and I don't mind that the last few episodes were melancholy and introspective. It feels like a mature and elegant way to go out, and hopefully in style during these last couple episodes.

Is it wrong of me to have expected more of tonight's episode than what I actually saw? Just one more episode left and granted it's 2 hours long; I just hope it's enough to tie together all ends.

So who here thinks the humans will make Cavill's cylon colony their new temporary home after they invade it?

I'm sure I'm missing something important, but what could possibly be Adama's reasoning for this action? He's leaving the last of humanity with no real leadership, and perhaps endangering them by possibly leading the hostile cylons to the fleet. Hera is the possible salvation for the cylons, but what is she to the humans? How could she help their survival?

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I do agree with you in thinking Adama's decision to leave the fleet is suspect. In regards to Hera, she draws those dots which correspond to notes for Starbuck's song. I guess Hera might know more than that, as noted by Cavill remarking on her drawings in this episode, which are all dots. Maybe the drawings and subsequently the song could lead to the salvation of the human race and not just the Cylons.

His motivation for going after Hera could be that his beloved ship is about to die, his love interest is dying, every time he turns around he finds out someone else is a cyclon, humanity is in the crapper so what the hell, go out guns-a-blazin'. of course that is kind of out of his known character but surely the man can only take so much. maybe we'll find out more of his reasoning next week.

Loved the flashbacks to Caprica, really good episode. So excited about next week. I think it will ultimately lead to a new home for everyone. Perhaps the black hole is a gateway.

Or maybe everyone dies

I think it's the right thing to do. Like he said, a little girl was kidnapped from his fleet by the Cylons, and they need to go get her back. They've already lost so many people, and he's going to do what he needs to do to prevent further loss of life. Roslin outlawed abortion because every single life is important when there's only 39,000 of you left. Hera is just as important as anyone else.

And yeah, as character-driven as this show is, it's frustrating that they're still showing backstory for all these characters when there's only 2 hours of show left. Any sort of resolution for Starbuck is going to feel tacked on at this point. I don't see how they can successfully resolve that one.

As a side note, is there anything from the Last Supper pic that we haven't seen resolved yet?? We know now that Helo and Athena are reacting to Tyrol, because of Hera's kidnapping. The one thing I don't get is that they showed Natalie, the brunette Six, and said a new Six will establish leadership in the Cylons, but it was a Caprica (blonde) Six that did that, did they think the model of Six was irrelevant??

I don't think the picture means that much anymore, I might be wrong but that was probably made before they even wrote Season 4

Yay, I'm finally caught up and can participate in this thread now!! I have successfully avoided ALL spoilers so far.... BSG is the only show I've cared enough about to do that lately :) Now I can watch the finale along with everyone else!

So, here are my GUESSES about some of the loose ends:
  • Daniel is Starbuck's father (the piano player) and Kara is a hybrid. How else could her 'projection' be explained? The way they've set those up is that only Cylons and hybrids can project. Remember back to the episode with Starbuck's mom in it? I think that's a very important episode for her storyline. Starbuck's mom did something during the first the Cylon War, remember? I think she knows a lot more than she lets on - knew about the cylons developing 'human models', fell in love, saved one of the Daniels before they could be boxed, etc.
  • I think the blending of human and cylon to create a hybrid is the road to an 'eternal' race - I don't think either race can survive without the other at this point. I think (based on Starbuck's plot and my assumption of who her father is) that hybrids are TRULY resurrected and renewed, without the use of a resurrection ship, etc. Look at what a tiny bit of Hera's blood did for Roslin during her first battle with the cancer. That also explains how she can project and see the opera house vision - because of that small amount of cylon/hybrid blood in her. (If I remember correctly she didn't see that vision until after Hera's blood had been injected into her? The other visions can be explained by the drug she was taking, as they didn't feature cylons.)
  • I think that Galactica herself has become a hybrid and, by sending her to her death, she will be renewed and brought back in pristine condition... maybe something to do with the black hole?
  • I have NO IDEA about Gaius and his role. And the opera house vision (although... the audio tape that is so important to Kara is a performance of her father at an opera house). I assume Gaius is a hybrid too. Maybe the man he thinks is his dad isn't his real dad and that's why they're always fighting? It would also explain how smart he of a scientist he is. All of those flashbacks HAVE to be important in some way.... why else would they spend such precious time on them??
  • If Kara's dad is Daniel that means that copy is still living somewhere (if my guess about hybrid resurrection is correct). My vision of this resurrection thing is that they live a full life - from birth until death, progressing and aging as normal, until they die somehow, and then they are stuck at that age? (that's the only way it would explain Starbuck coming back at the exact same age, but not ALWAYS having been that age)... NEVER MIND, DANIEL IS A REAL CYLON NOT A HYBRID, DUH DUSTY! That means he'd have been 'boxed' along with the other copies if he died and there was a resurrection ship close by... or he's still living... or he's just dead dead... I'm assuming that will be revealed if he really IS a Daniel copy.
  • The 'dying leader' from the original prophecy is Galactica herself.

What am I missing??

And also, that's kind of weird because if the hybrids are truly immortal, how can they really value life? (like the skin jobs have learned)

Eh, I'm totally guessing anyway, and I'm really interested at how they're gonna tie everything up in only 2 hours!! I hope hope hope it's not some cop-out ending... all of that awesomeness and then: 'it's a dream'... 'it's a parallel universe'... or, my worst fear because it WOULD tie everything up: they time-travel through the black hole back to the colonies before the war (which would explain why Hera's so important - if they hadn't chased her they wouldn't get to the black hole, etc - and also the many flashbacks... if they time-travel back and it shows them living through all those memories exactly the same way again, we all know that 'all this has happened before and will happen again')... but.... BLAH :(

I think the connect with Laura and Hera is that both have Cylon blood in them which allows them to project and interface with other Cylons. I just don't see the significance of the Opera House.

That cop who gave Roslin the bad news really had a crappy bed side manner.
"yeahsoanywaytheresbeenabadaccidentursistersandfatheraredead...":horror
Im not sure if that was bad acting or she was directed to deliver it that way or what but geeeeez.....

As for Galactica being the dying leader; Weak sauce.(if true)
Sounds like the prophets from the book of Pion sat at the feet of Nostrodamus.
Write cryptic mumbojumbo so it can be interpreted a million different ways so historians cant say he was wrong.
