Plus as far as HD goes--Blu-Ray will be in full 1080p rather than the 720p or 1080i on TV.
I dunno... I watched all of season 4.5 on SciFi HD as it aired and was surprised by the amount of grain/imperfections in the film. I also watched the first half of the season on (upscaled) DVD with my wife to catch her up and could not tell a difference in quality from DVD to HD. Usually, the HD channels on my tv are as crisp and clean as your average BD, but BSG in particular always looks "dirty." Except for the last hour of the final episode, maybe. I doubt this is a series that will benefit highly from BD, since it doesn't appear to have been filmed in the best quality to begin with.

There's a massive difference between the 420p of broadcast HD and a 1080p BD. However:
BDG is shot on HD video if memory serves, but is degraded/filtered to achieve a specific look. I suspect in this case the PQ delta between upscaled DVD and BD will be minimal.
Doesn't it vary though?? I know some stations broadcast in 1080p, but some cable providers downgrade the signal. I know SciFi was catching flak for not broadcasting in full HD.
Soo who else is excited to blow probably $250 on the Blu set? I know I am
$245 at Amazon. Looks like I'll be waiting for a good sale before I pick it up.
