Beast Kingdom Batman 1989 Batman and Joker

Beast Kingdom have a new 1/9 scale line and they teased 89 Keaton and Nicholson last week. No pics yet.

I've liked what this company did with the BvS toys, but I didn't pick them up.


They recently showed of a Dark Knight Returns figure, but sadly, it was way off the mark. The body was too small and the head just did NOT capture Miller's style.

But this is 1989 Batman we're talking here. And Joker?

For now I'm chalking this up to be "too good to be true" and possibly they'll make figures with the outfits but no likenesses. Still.....I'm eager to see more.

Beast Kingdom is a company I'm really keeping an eye on. I have their DAH 1/9 scale Justice League Batfleck, which was okay, but recently I got their DAH Dark Knight Batman, and they took it to a whole other level with a fabric costume, lots of accessories, etc. It's certainly not perfect, but it comes really close (in my opinion) to being a mini-Hot Toys, for a fraction of the price.

I am very excited about their comic book offerings, and I already PO'd their Dark Knight Returns figure. I agree with Otomofan that the proportions are a bit off, and the head isn't 100% accurate to Miller's art, but it still does it for me. They also previewed a version with a blue cape and the yellow oval symbol, which I'm also very much looking forward to.

^ Well, wasn't he at one point in the long list of rumored actors to take on the titular role for the 1989 film?

Anyway, it is weird how they stuck on the 1992 cowl but replaced the insignia. Hopefully they care enough for accuracy to fix that.

You sure they have the rights to make Nicholson? That looks like they were trying to avoid making the face look like him....

Are they perfect? No.

Are they a weird size? Yes.

Are they gonna be overpriced? Yes.

Am I gonna buy them anyway? Siiigh....yeah.

Mezco clearly never wants me to have their One:12 version so I'll take what I can get. Yeah, the costume details and facial likenesses are just a bit off, but who cares....if they're actually sturdy and can hold poses, these might be the most "fun" 1989 Batman figures we ever get!

It’s so lame that DC characters can’t come with guns anymore. The long gun and the gun with the bang flag are definitely missing on that Joker. Otherwise for what they are not bad looking releases.

In the description it says pistol with bang flag. Maybe it extends like in the movie.

It is a weird situation, especially with collectibles clearly meant for adults. But I think exceptions are made for things like Joker's flag pistol.

Perhaps Beast Kingdom is being cautious as a licensee and just not showing it in the promotional pictures. Under accessories, it says: Blower hat, flag pistol, dentures, megaphone, walkie-talkie, remote control, purple spray.

Yeah, but that was solicited last year amid the start of the ban so they may have removed it just to be safe, possibly because the directive wasn't clear at the time. Or things may have changed a bit.

These two are being released in the future so are likely more relevant to the current situation, whatever that may be.
