This is way off the side but I wish the "exclusive" item would come in a seperate baggy and they made as many as were ordered for say 3 months. That way the only true difference between ordering from SSC and the retailers is the accessory. If an extra accessory is worth $10 to you, you buy it direct, if not you don't.

No edition sizes. No competing with collectors. No worries about whether the Exclusive goes up while the Regular goes down. None of that.

Why? That makes no sense.

You really think people would pay these kinds of prices if collectibles were not limited?

That just opens up a whole can of worms regarding value on the secondary market. Believe me, that's a dead horse around here too.

BTW, I was surprised to see a shipping date of 4th Quarter 2007. I was expecting 1st Quarter 2008 at the earliest.

After reminding you Josh (and you relaying that you already ordered him at SDCC) I FELL ASLEEP :sleep:sleep:sleep:sleepon the couch while my little one was having her nap... Daddy must nap as well... I woke up and did my usual casual pop in check when the little light went off----

LUKE:lightsabe

Luckily 19 minutes in I was still able to pre-order the Exc. version---

That was almost a :stooge moment.:D

Glad you got one Neil. :duff

But it doesn't change my personal stance on that particular policy though. Yeah, I got one, but other collectors lost out because the well was already drying up before 1:00 EST today.

I understand but I hope they don't quit doing this. Its more than fair for con goers to be able to order before those not. That's just my two cents. As far as the well drying up and people losing out. It has an ES so people are gonna lose out anyways. So that dog don't hunt with me.

Do you know that for certain? Is that what they said at the con?

All I know is that when I've heard it asked before it was said the orders taken at the Con count as part of the ES on the item. They don't do a special run of Ex for those ordering at the con on top of the ones for the PPO.

This is a unique case though -- an exclusive ordered AFTER the con. Like the Hobbits. I'm just curious if the edition sizes mentioned on PO day are the amount alloted for non-attendees, NOT including the few hundred preordered at the con.

It doesn't really matter to me either way. Just curious.

Josh, I agree with you on lots, but I have to go against ya on the convention attendee issue. Convention trips gotta run at least $1000, and if you're a serious collector, that's a lot of merchandise you can't afford and with an average income, money can be real tight. I think convention goers are lucky to go to the con, that should be reward enough, but the privilege of just walking up and ordering something that everyeone else is left to fight for is a sucky deal, at least last year with Jabba and Salacious, they were inclusive so there was no competition.

yeah but theyre still limited.

Yeah. I never said to make more. I'd like to basically eliminate the perceived difference between exclusive edition and regular edition.

Make the "exclusive" truly the accessory rather than the limited nature of the item.

If you want a version of Bespin Luke that EVERYONE can buy then here you go

If you want to spend more for something special and unique... well...

I think you guys are missing the point.

The reason they do preorders for stuff at the con is incentive to bring people in. Gives them a reason to spend that $1000 to attend.

Yes it sucks for people that dont attend...I have never attended one. But why cry about it? If you want something so badly, then get off of your ass and spend the money to go to the con. Or ask nicely for someone to help you out.

Thank you, Sean. That sums it up better than I was able to. Everything you said plus having convention exclusives is reward enough. Heck, if I couldn't get Sidious at all, then oh well. That was meant for those who attended SDCC.

And I knew there was a reason I didn't have a problem with this last year. It was the Inclusive Edition scenario. I just couldn't think of it last night!! D'oh!!!!

Probably sounds good in your head, but if that idea would really work dont you think at least ONE collectible company out today would have implemented it?

The whole reason is NOT to eliminate a perceived difference between an exclusive and regular edition. Collectors WANT exclusive things, they WANT limited things, and they WANT to have something that some people dont.

You seem like a lazy collector type. You dont want the hassle, yet you want to collect things. Maybe youre confused and stumbled into the wrong hobby.

I like exclusives...

Although, the days of real good ones, like the Mynock and Jango's helmet and the metal droid head, seem long gone.

Maybe not... remember Boromir's awesome Orc head in the LOTR line... I'm sure we'll see another out of the park homerun Exclusive soon.

I stumbled into the wrong hobby... I signed up for a cheese of the month club and I was sent a 12" Hellboy. Far from cheesy.:D

I meant with Star Wars, and recently. Plus, that Orc head was a long time ago too. Check out the exclusives with the Hobbits. They seem to be getting smaller and less appealing.

Sounds like Prog is advocating a highly-expanded version of an Inclusive Edition to me, and Sideshow has implemented that system from time to time.

And that really came off as rude BTW. I hope it was tongue-in-cheek.

I like "exclusive items" too. Its a nice way for SSC to up their profit margins without uping the retail price.

What I don't like is that perceived value of the rarer 10-20% of their figures actually hurts the value of the rest of their other product.

You don't like lembas bread? That stuff is the bomb--toasted and covered with a fresh trout...:monkey5

I see your point... but I hold out hope that the Exc. will soon be as exciting as they once were (Jango head, orc head...etc) in ALL of the 1:6 lines.
