And quite frankly...it seems to me that giving the newsletter subscribers first shot at them is no different than letting attendees have an advanced shot at them. Excluding non-newsletter subscribers is no different than excluding CC non-attendees. It is the chance to order early that is the perk...not the exclusive figure.

Or do I have a skewed point of view on that topic as well?

I don't know if I'd say skewed but I'd like to counter this statement. I think newsletter membership privileges and convention attendance privileges are very different. Conventions run you probably somewhere around $500 to $1000 dollars for tickets and room and what not by the time it's over, the only price you pay for newsletter membership is that you get emails from Sideshow, but money wise, it's free, anyone can do it so long as you have internet access, and I do realize some people don't have that, but the number of people able to sign up for a free newsletter is far greater than those who can make it to convetions, so I think giving Newsletter members first crack at PPO's is a fairly equal opportunity process.

I really don't give a hoot about exclusives or their exclusivity. I only get exclusives when they have cool gear.
:D

Me too. Princess Leia's handcuffs didn't appeal to me so I cancelled it and ordered it cheaper elsewhere. I like Luke's splint so I ordered it at SS Direct and I will keep it there. Screw exclusivity. I just want cool accessories.

It's not so much about who's getting the first shot at it, but the change of policy without notice. As far as I know Sideshow never advertised that the exclusive would be presold at SDCC, leaving newsletter subscribers (and anyone else who didn't go to the con) at a disadvantage. At least some subscribers who would have reasonably expected to get one have now missed out.

To my knowlege SS has always pre ordered the exclusives of any products at the Con, this includes Jabba and the group from last year and even the Stealth Iron Man this year. No real change in policy at all.

:horse

I'm staying out of it this time. There are clearly two schools of thought here, and this is one of those cases where name-calling and mudslinging are going to eventually rear their ugly heads if someone expresses an opinion.

Let this one go, guys and gals, or this is going to inevitably get ugly all over again...

If that's always been the case, then cool. But they don't seem to publicise it very well.

I will agree they don't publicize it well but most people that go to the Con know how things work.. so you could either fault SS for them not saying "Anything on display at the Con can be pre ordered" or fault those that know SS's policy and not saying anything. I know I asked the girls at the booth what was for preorder and they told me everything was up for pre order except for what was marked as not final product or pending approval. So all it takes is asking, now should SS change this? I don't think so, I got my Luke there and even if I hadn't I would have been sweating the PPO. Did it last year with Leia and that was far more stressful as the servers were down for almost 45 minutes to an hour. Seeing as your from Australia I could see you being upset with the time difference and the possibility of not getting the figure versus someone who was at the Con but look at it this way.. SS could always just say, "We will no longer do PPOs, the item will go up and everyone will have the same chance as everyone else. Newsletter status will no longer be taken into account." So while you disagree with us being able to preorder at the Con.. it could always be worse.

Yup, its been this way the three years I've been so it has been out there for at least that long. I'm not sure why this seems to be such a surprise after this year or really why its even a big deal. If I order it at the show or on PPO day I got one and if "you" miss out either way "you" missed out. I just paid 1k bucks :)lol) to order it in front of a person. :rotfl

It seems they really want to get this right. They've definitely futzed the living daylights out of this thing, and he looks SUPERB. Blast. Now I have to get one!

Between this, Ben, and Palpy, Sideshow seems to have raised the bar on these figures.

Looks a lot nicer, and looks like the head's in-scale. It's definitely the new jacket, looks like the pants may have differences, too. That or just tucked in better.
