Because the scientists and crew made the dumbest decisions anyone could make.
That's pretty much a blanket statement for 85% at a minimum of all films. Why this is held as a hanging offense for that one is absolutely laughable.

There's a lot of problems with that movie.

That's the least of it.

It was emblematic of just how dumb the writing on that movie was. In most films characters even scientist say and do dumb things for plot convenience but in Prometheus the guy in charge of mapping, who had literal mapping drones to assist him, got lost. The biologist who should understand animal behavior the best in the group could not tell strange creature was acting aggressive and tried to touch it etc etc.

That is not just characters acting dumb, it is uno reverso characters.... they behave the exact opposite of how they should. That is the most extreme of stupid writing at work. While I love Prometheus (for visuals, production design etc) I definitely agree it has some of the dumbest writing seen in film all while pretending it is intellectual and profound...

Yeah... saw that a while ago.
Not terribly interesting, is it? I wonder what is so hard about simply going back to the source material. Although my favourite is still the original, Stan Winston did a great job on his take. Have people become so untalented that they can't the vibe again?
Let's hope it looks more interesting in action.

Isn't this one all about going back to the source material? Using practical effects, classic Aliens, face-huggers, etc. takes place on LV-426, between Alien and Aliens, set when they first colonized the moon there.

Cue complaints: That is so unoriginal [Why go back to the source material], can't they set it in a a different place and time and come up with new Aliens! :lol

Entertainment Weekly: "Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien and Aliens, and Alvarez was a stickler for communicating that through specific details. The gun that Spaeny is wielding in the photo above, for instance, is meant to be halfway between the flamethrower Ripley wielded against the original Xenomorph and the pulse rifle used in Aliens.

The same scrutiny was applied to the Xenomorph’s design, which Alvarez promises is closer to H.R. Giger’s original creation than any other iteration."

I don't like that the jaw tendons are so uniform.

I was referring to the design of the alien itself. Just looking at the face, it seems to be missing the "bio-mechanical" aspect that made Giger's design so unique and unsettling. Of course, this is just the face, but it doesn't bode well for the rest of the creature. It seems people think a few ridges here and there and exposed ribs is all it takes...
Here's hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

There’s a new shot of the Alien on Entertainment Weekly.
I don’t know, initially I thought they were going back to Giger’s design. But the head looks off to me, maybe it’s just the angle?

There's something very odd going on with the head/cowl...
And I know what is bothering me about the face: it reminds me off Hot Toys' awful "Godzilla" sculpt!
