In the blue explosion from the trailer I could only see the guy had a ponytail so that must be this Defender Strange. Interesting that in back to back MCU movies they are really showcasing multiple variants of the main character. Cool to see one that is an evil variant.

Not sure if he is the one from What if...?, but would be some nice marketing for the What if...? show. He has black around the eyes in the show at the end, but doesn't talk evil-y like the trailer. He does however send those eldritch tendrils out of his hand in the trailer so I would like to assume yes, that is the same dark Strange. I hope this movie is as weird as I want it to be. Strange is in everything right now.

Edit: Watching some clips from What if...? again, I forgot how he was split in two then consumed the good side. While he redeemed himself and seemed normal, maybe the performance might be altered to keep him evil-y. But Strange was left in his universe so not sure how he would get to the one overlooking some place looking out into a universal swirl in the background from the trailer.
It could be another evil Strange, it could be the What If version, it could be a bait-and-switch. We assume there's an evil Strange because of the voiceover, but Mordo could easily be talking to Wanda. There's tons of leaks and trailers are supposed to misdirect you on some level.

Defenders Strange remains a question, as I never saw him mentioned in any sort of leaks. So who knows what's the deal with him.

Dr Strange better be careful the villain in this film doesn't know math. Apparently math is his kryptonite.
I can believe that a neurosurgeon would know less complex math than someone who's studying math/robotics/physics, that's just natural. But the way it was handled in that NWH was idiotic. It was like an early 10s "science **** yeah" type wrote it. Hell, with the way magic is presented in the MCU, you'd think the Sorcerer Supreme, with an actual photographic memory, would bother to learn some higher dimensional algebra. At the very least he would've gotten the hand of non-Euclidean geometry through sheer practice. But no, I guess web ropes shot on peaks confuse him too much.

The Defender look is growing on me. Maybe a buddy from another verse or Strange just leveled up, but I might take a HT figure of him. Can't wait to see this now.

My problem is that he kind of took it too easy on Peter. Let him outdo him and not really aggravate him to the point of raging. Just kind of, oh hes just a kid. Strange is known for being a jerk and was surprised he really pulled his punches after continual failure with Peter. Maybe I'm just thinking into it too much and he really didn't want to hurt Peter and thinks of him as a colleague in a bind.

I'm definitely getting it myself if they make it. I'll need two Stranges, one to pose with my Illuminati, and one with my Sorcerers. If Patrick Stewart is in it as well, and they make an Xavier, that'll be great as well, since I can put him with my Illuminati and then get the MCU one later down the lane for my X-Display. The latest rumor, by the guy who leaked NWH, is that Cruise is it, amongst other random cameos.

It'd be fun if they could bring back the 2005 Mr. Fantastic as a nod, and then have him return in the Council Of Reeds alongside the proper MCU Reed.

If Cruise is it (still unlikely, he doesn't seem the type to do merch), HT won't pass up the chance for another Stark. The question then becomes, which Tony do I use for my Illuminati, and which do I keep as an Iron Man? I don't have any other armours (I only bought the Endgame version because it was the closest to the Modular), so a Hall Of Armours isn't on the cards. I'm still figuring out such displays, and they change as time goes on. Take Doom. I'll buy any version, but then that means multiples. One could go with the FF, another with the Sorcerers, another solo. It helps to have a rough outline, but you have to be flexible too, as these things change all the time. Casting choices, costumes, differences in the adaptations and all, they complicate things.

That's how I'm rationilizing it. A mix of hubris, being ticked off at being demoted, and not really wanting to be too hard on Spider-Kid as he still sees him as someone in over his head but with his heart in the right place. It shouldn't have happened, and NWH nerfed him a lot, but I can find some excuses for it, so as not to be as mad as I would be otherwise.

It wasn't much of a fight because Spidey was running away from Strange most of the time. I don't think Spiderman landed a single punch or attack. However, my issue with the fight, besides the way it ended, it's that Strange didn't have a single way to hold Spiderman in place, just to contain him in place. Some kind of energy orb or spell to freeze people, telekinesis...anything.

That pic of Cruise is awesome. I hope the Illuminati is a thing, but might be a one-off. Redoing a variant Avengers was already done in What if...?, but live action is always better. Interesting that they could do Prof X from Fox as a variant before they recast him in the MCU.

Still not sure on Namor as you would've thought if he was in this or BP2 they would have made a bigger announcement like Kang. Then Kang snuck into Loki before the announced appearance in AM3. Possible the rumored Mexican actor could be Hector Ayala aka White Tiger, who was Puerto Rican. Lots of moving pieces right now and Marvel I'm sure has many more cards to play when it comes to the multiverse.

That's just PIS; Plot Intended Stupidity. Contrived things that happen purely so that the specific plot can move along. They'll always be there, and some irk me more than others, but I've learned to ignore them, same way I do in comics. This nonsense I attribute to Strange not being in his prime and not wanting to go too hard on the Spider-Kid.

Could be they're in it as a nod for when they form in the main verse. You can't do the Illuminati without Reed, and with Stark dead and T'Challa also dead, they only have Strange already established. They could combine fanservice (Stewart brought in again and interacting with some other names) while also establishing the concept. Stewart's the most likely to appear thus far, things like Cruise Stark as up in the air. The rest of the rumored team is underwhelming; Balder, Monica Rambeau, Dreadlocks Mordo, Captain Carter and AU Palmer who doubles as Clea. Random rumoured cameos include Cage Blaze and Tobey-Man, but who knows, maybe all that is ********. We'll have to wait and see, it's like half a year left now.

IIRC Kang's casting was announced through official channels when Ant-Man 3 was confirmed. The Namor thing hasn't been reported anywhere but it's one of the strongest rumours. So who knows? I can believe it though, because they've done black/African ethnostate (Wakanda), Asian ethnostate (the Shang-Chi mystical village) and now they're turning Atlantis in a MesoAmerican ethnostate. It'd be bad optics for them if there was also a white/European ethnostate and it went to war with Wakanda. Now, how that explains why Asgard & Olympus have to look like modern day LA beats me. I'm irked about MesoAmerican Atlantis, but I can kinda swallow it since I find Mayan aesthetics interesting enough. It's not ideal, but I can stomach it. Kang's actor bugs me more, since I don't feel he suits the role. And it makes feel kinda bad since he comes off as a likeable guy in the interviews.

Still, lots of things in the pipeline, between AUs and the main timeline. Who knows what they'll do. It'd be pretty dissapointing if the one person who's always had tons and tons of variants, Kang, is stuck being played by a single guy. Personally, when the FF roll around, I'd love to see Maker Reed & Kang Sue.

I wish they'd bring back Gruffudd in some capacity, as I really felt that he was a good Reed. I like the guy too, and it's a shame his career went nowhere.

It'd be a fun bit to have him as a Kang variant, either as 41st Century Nathaniel or just regular Reed who took another path. I have to say, with the FF coming, I really need to start reigning in my buys and plan ahead. If I go around buying everything I fancy, I'll end up with upwards of 100 figures.

This looks amazing. Despite any reservations I’ve had about the inclusion of whatever characters, I am very excited about this movie. Cumberbatch really kills it as Strange.

Still trying to figure out if that is the Evil Strange from What if...? Not exactly the same setting he was last seen in with What if...? Multiverse travel transcends time as well so maybe it was before he consumed his entire universe? Idk. If you play it slow with the burst of blue light, it is Chavez's Star you can see Defender Strange being thrown out of. The Batman and DS: MoM I am so excited for next year. Sucks they were originally set to release 2 weeks apart for a good while.

That looks good. The only thing I didn't like in the trailer was the one CG shot of the floating doorway ... looked very video game.

I feel like it captures a good Dr. Strange vibe -- but I'm not a long time comic fan, just familiar with a few of the newer books.

Dr Strange' s costume got an upgrade. No more wraps on his forearms and boots. New boots, new collar, eye of agamoto is higher, classic Dr Strange' logo symbol on his chest, and less layers of clothing it seems. He still looks similar, but this might be his best costume so far.

This looks genuinely good, and not just by capeshit standards. I'm pretty pumped. I hope they make lots of figures from this one. Needless to say I'm crossing my figures for the cameos too. I'd kill for some 00s era figures. 2022 is going to be the Year of the Wizard.

We do get to see Defender Strange in the trailer although quite quick and difficult to distinguish due to the scene.

Guys, is this Tom Cruise as Iron Man pic/meme going around in any way related to reality, or is it just a meme cause he said he was gonna play Iron Man for like 10 years before RD Jr finally did. Just wondering.

There's truth to it. The rumor goes back 2 years. Feige wanted lots of high-profile actors in it as variants, including Cruise , Juaquin Phoenix, Leonardo Dicaprio, and a bunch of other people too, but who knows who's in it. One thing is true, the film has gone extensive reshoots and supposedly they've added a lot of cameos.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing
Strange travel to the 616 universe and get a comics accurate costume. I hope that's true.
