I've seen some leaked plot points, and one of them has me wondering if I assumed stuff in ANH that no one else took away as being so set in stone. So I'll ask you guys about what I'm referring to in spoiler tags in case anyone cares to weigh in on it.

There's at least one early episode where Kenobi rescues Leia after being called upon for assistance by Bail.

In Leia's message to Kenobi from ANH, she prefaces why she's reaching out by saying, "Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars." So... it strikes me as weird that she would be referencing working with Bail during the Clone Wars if she already spent time with him during a rescue adventure several years after the Clone Wars. That makes for an awkward recontextualizing of her iconic hologram message, IMO.

Did anyone ever get the sense that Leia and Kenobi had known each other? Maybe I'm the only one who assumed from her message that he wouldn't know her.
Called shoehorn canon. Doesn't have to make sense, just money. I expect nothing less from Lucasfilm.

Well....there's also the bit when Luke enters her cell on the Death Star saying - ''I'm here with Ben Kenobi'' and she exclaims ''Ben Kenobi?! Where is he?''

So she knows the name he later took on. It's a small thing but perhaps it could be allowed that she has met him herself. On the other hand one might have just assumed that Bail Organa spoke of him using that name and that's how she knew it and had never met him in person.

That's unfortunate and wholly unsurprising.

So I'm gonna call it now: this show will be terrible. It will play fast and loose with established OT canon and characters, with poor writing, uneven directing and a miserly budget.

I truly hope I'm wrong and just flinging Internet Salt.

*sigh*

2015:

“Somehow, Palpathleen has returned.”

You forgot, "With respect."

I've always taken that moment you mention in ANH the exact same way. That supposed leak would be like Leia walking up to Han in Echo Base and saying "Captain Solo, years ago you made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs. Now Captain Rieekan asks for further assistance." Han would be all "um why are you speaking like we don't know each other and haven't gone on entire adventures together," lol.

I guess if that leak is true it'll be another situation like the beginning of ROTS where the dialogue makes it very obvious that it's the first rematch between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Dooku since AOTC and then TCW comes along and tells us that no they've actually dueled 50 times since then, lol.
Okay, cool. When I have an OT interpretation that aligns with yours, I know that I can stop second-guessing it. :duff

But although I see what you're saying about TCW getting away with undermining a strongly implied bit of context from the PT, I don't put animation on the same level as live action. And I certainly don't put the PT anywhere near the same level as the OT. They really need to stop messing with the originals. I don't care that Lucas himself started it with the SE 25 years ago, it just needs to stop.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll point to that in justifying it. But I don't like it. The only reason that instance sticks out for us is because the unfamiliarity between the two was so strongly implied, right?

Expect a LOT more sand rock desert muted yellow tones. Wandering. Sadness. Flash-backs and fan-service galore.

Oh you wanted Darth Maul's death...ha...you wanted Darth Vader sending killer droids searching for Obi-wan...ha

A Jedi craves these adventures not! You are reckless! Will you complete what you have started?...ha!!

Disney will you subscribe...failure will it be...

Episode one loses light saber, spends 3 more episodes leaning the ways of Tattooine from pseudo friendly Tuskens to try and barter his saber back, gets saved by a 10 year old Dinn Djarin in episode 5, last episode he beats Vader with a gaffi stick. Every other episode we’ll be reminded by the wild haired comic relief character that sand is course and gets everywhere, with a side of nostalgia berries every 11 minutes.

On a serious note I really don’t expect much originality from any more of these Disney+ shows. Every cool shot will probably be lifted from a movie or show that did it first and better.

I do hope this show is a complete 180 from Book of Bob.

John Williams is composing the theme for the series!
That will take this show to another level.

Great news. I like the contrast of these two...

rumours are that Jimmy Smits is back.
There could FINALLY be some in depth Alderaan stuff coming.
And hopefully Breha Organa (Rebecca Jackson Mendoza) too.
Even if a small role, it'd be great if there is parallel narrative exploring what Ob-Wan was doing in hiding, contrast to what Bail Organa was doing as a public figure (yet secret ally).
Two sides of the coin, (surrogates) that inevitably helped bring about Luke and Leia respectively.
