That's the key word. Every time there's a race/genger change, what do you see? All I see are African-Americans. That's it. Not even native Africans, just African-Americans. I never see any Koreans, Indians, Cambodians, whatever else. So yeah, I'm "peeved". Because of the hypocrisy. Just say you're trying to reach the African-American community specifically, because they're a large consumer demographic in your base of operations so to speak, and stop pretending that you're on some holy crusade to make little Rajesh feel represented. It's a very American Western thing where the "enlightened few" believe that there's some "POC Solidarity", and that the blonde Hemsworth pisses off the guy from Brazil, while the moment he'll lay eyes upon some black actor instead of a white one, the darker skin will instantly bring him closer to the character. It's out of touch American whites and their liberal white guilt taking over, nothing more than that.Y'all really don't like POC being cast in main roles, do you? I swear any time a movie/show has a black or asian person in it then it immediately gets **** on here for being "woke". Aliens are cool and believable but your immersion is suddenly shattered at the sight of a black person. You must have **** your pants when you first watched Empire Strikes Back.
I know, I know, "I'm in the past". "Who cares". I'm being "hypocritical" because almost a century ago Obi-Wan wore brown paint to play a Caucasian Arab man, so it's okay for Achilles to look like he came from Kenya... All I know is Shang-Chi gets his specifically Chinese ethnostate, Black Panther gets his self-inserting ethnostate, meanwhile everything related to any sort of European history or myth, has to look like modern day L.A. I'm sorry, but this is too much hypocrisy for me. So when I see some nonsense in the casting, I'll shoot the **** and make some bants. I'm not even mad at this random woman playing a random mook. It's just evident that she has no helmet or specific markings strictly so that they can say how much of a brave and stunning black woman she is. All the others are aliens, the one human Inquisitor from Fallen Order wore a helmet, but I guess she was Indian so she didn't count to Disney. Every other actor's under heavy makeup, meanwhile she's just a random woman. I wonder why... It's the marketing and hypocrisy that pisses people off, not the choice itself.
Before the twittertards even knew what capes were, I was reading Black Panther alongside Iron Man, the FF, Batman and whatever else. He was in my Top 5, regardless of the fact that he was the blackest power fantasy in comics, specifically because he was cool aesthetically and appealed to me thematically, regardless of how far removed I was from the specific customer they were trying to appeal to. Now they've stripped the character of all nuance, sold him to the masses, and they're suddenly the fans while I'm a "problematic element". So whatever jabs I can take at them, even at a dolly forum where I'll just ramble to 20 other people, half of whom will put me on ignore, I will. Because **** those twittertards and **** Disney.
Supegenius Time-Travelling Alexander here:If the actors/actresses do a good job then who gives a ****. We've seen 3 pictures of her. Whilst studios do love to check the diversity box it's also possible that the casting division know what they are doing and just pick the best person for the role. It's not like this is a previously white character being race swapped, it's a minor character that's been mentioned like once in an encyclopedia.
HUZZAH!!!
That's not so b-
I'll watch it. It's okay. Maybe. Whatever. I hope it has some PT flashbacks so that I can get some reissues of ROTS Anakin/Obi-Wan or something.
Needless to say, I won't be buying that... Seriously, what the ****?! This is the best a billion dollar corporation can come up with? Christ... I feel embarassed to continue buying merch that supports these things. I really do. Damn my completionism and inabillity to detach myself from harmful habits....
Not a fan of the Inquisitor design choices, no -- but I think it's a coin toss as to whether this is any good. But definitely not re-subscribing unless everyone whose taste resonates with mine says it's worth it. I'm in for all spoilers and dissections before I'll consider it.
