Where to begin...
I know it's just the teaser but....very disappointing. When the "strong female character" has more action beats and screen time in the teaser than the namesake character, that's a problem. And really? ANOTHER broken disillusioned legacy character? Diz is not going to be satisfied until they have broken, destroyed, emasculated and utterly rendered every core character from the Lucas movies into complete irrelevance.
Yes, it's just a teaser, but it already smacks of the same feckless direction and tone BOBF was afflicted with. There is no singular vision producing SW content anymore. It's a committee based, algorithm-driven formula that must hit the same familiar beats with each offering. Whiffs of nostalgia with some music cues and old fan fave character sightings? Check. Strong females and other "inclusive" casting that is not character-driven but appearance driven? Check. Render classic male character feeble and incompetent? Check. Find old TV formula troupe to format the show with (the old "Fugitive" model is tried and true and guarantees lots of chases and confrontations) while pushing any motivations and struggles the lead character may be dealing with in the story to the side and making them meaningless? Check. And most important: Make the lead character a supporting one for the parade of new characters that will be spun off into more content for parent company? Check and check.
I wanted to love this. I wanted it to sweep me off my feet and make me count the days until it premiered. Instead, this teaser showed me that this show will be more of the same misfires that derailed BOBF and Mando. I'll watch it. Maybe I'll end up pleasantly surprised. But as has been mentioned by many before me...I think SW's best days are behind us.
Heck, at this point, it won't surprise me if that idiotic star cruiser and/or Grogu show up in this. Product placement! This is the way!
At least George gave us a story....
Okay. Rant off. I know there are folks that probably enjoyed this. Carry on.
