You stated it affected both your wife and yourself - so I would concede to a very tiny, tiny amount. So we'll have to agree to disagree.
I think the number of those passing because of the poor headsculpt vs. the price point would be much higher.
Quite frankly, with the amount of money, even if it's a favorite character I'm going to be less likely to purchase it if the headsculpt is weak, and especially if it's warped. I don't like the idea of paying even more money to fix an already expensive item. That's an exception I don't make very often.
I was going to mention Rose, as she always seemed very popular to me. And I think she would be a safe choice to make, provided they don't let what happened to Amy happen to her.

Did Hot Toys cost $200 back then? That's really the only way this comparison works.
I understand companies have to start somewhere, but when you're charging high end prices people are going to expect high end products.
I can't speak for an alternative reality where a better Amy would have translated to better sales, but I can speak for myself when I saw I would have kept my Amy order had she looked better.

No, I agree there, but they say they can't actualy make them any more cheaply and I am inclined to believe them. I don't know if that is the result of being a UK company with production in China or their relative inexperience in getting a good deal. There are other UK companies who produce cheap, Chinese-made figs, Character Options for one, but they have been around for a lot longer.

Not really. Hot Toys has always been priced nearly double what the competition was priced at. I bought my Jack Sparrow v1 for $125, when Sideshow figures were $65, I believe. I think it came out around the same time as the ANH Luke.
Hot Toys military figures were $90 at a time when everyone else priced their figures around $30-$40.

Erm, who was that supposed to be? From memory, my Brandon Routh "Superman Returns" head is a little better than that!
Oh the time when SSC figures where $40...such bliss. We are very spoilt now really, the level of expertise has risen so dramatically that anything else appears much more toy like, and yes I am including myself in that group.

It was a military figure, DGT so no one in particular. But just look at it! And presumably they were happy enough with it to release it, although this fig was crammed with equipment and, I think, helmetted, so the head sculpt and paint didn't matter as much as it would for a portrait. It was, effectively, a neccessary accessory.
See, this is why we all have to be so careful of what we buy and become so disappointed when we have blown our tiny stash of discretionary money on something that didn't turn out. How many people have the sort of money needed to buy good quality figures casually these days? Not I. I am down to one major figure purchase per year at the moment, and that one figure has to be absoultely perfect.

That would work if we got to see final production samples before we needed to put our money down. Unfortunately, we don't. so it is a gamble with a figure that is likely to sell out on POs. With established companies, we can use their track record to gauge what the final figure will look like or know that there is likely to be a big enough run that we can wait for in hand photos before we press the button. With a new company, we can only base it on their last figure or two, as they are likely to be still developing what they do. Unfortunately for BCS, their last figure out was this one. Hopefully the next few releases will give customers confidence back. We wait and see.

Had BCS not had ridiculous long delays and released her during the height of her popularity, Amy would have sold out. That is of course if the figure was much better than what we got. Timing is everything, you can't expect a companion to sell well when the new companion is being accepted in with open arms.
So would people be up for a replacement-replacemnt head? It would be resin, sculpted hair, probably by Joy Snyderman, who has a good record of female heads.
I love Amy's character, easily my favourite companion. I want a head that conveys her personality.

Snyderman would be a good choice for a sculptor. I have no interest, but it should look great. Her Leia is tops.
