I will be very surprised, no, downright amazed, if that turns out to be true. The rumoured contenders never turn out to be the ones who get the role, and usually weren't ever even seriously in the running, but were only 'leaked' as being so by over-zealous agents and managers, which is then propagated as fact by the tabloid press, and gains further traction across the internet. That's what this smells like, too.
I could be wrong, of course, but I can't recall the rumour mill and tabloid press being right yet as far as predicting the identity of who is playing the next Doctor goes, so I tend to be sceptical of every name thrown around until official channels are the ones doing the throwing.
