Great news :rock was wondering when we'd get to hear about these extra items. Can't wait for this release!! :)

Not long to wait now, either. They predicted late January for the First Doctor (if I recall correctly), so probably by some time before the end of February we'll have him in our collections...

I am officially very excited for this figure.
I remember way back, when we were discussing what they should for a next figure, and this one was mentioned; others were, but we seemed to agree that the 50th anniversary belonged to Mr Hartnell. Then of course, it was announced. We knew we couldn't get a signature edition, but that was ok as this was going to be the original Doctor.
When I saw the prototype sculpt, I liked it a lot and thought it did Mr Hartnell justice. And when the final ensemble was presented...wow! That costume is so precisely accurate, and the hat; we get thee hat that might have been otherwise left out. So this was a very complete and beautiful figure.
For me anyway, the inclusion now, of the two first companion autographs is truly the icing on the cake for this release, as a package.

Agreed. Weird to think it's been over a year since the Anniversary special! But my excitement that BCS took a chance o this guy is undiminished. I really hope we'll hear news of another classic Doctor soon. But I'm just excited to get this in hand soon.

With January just around the corner, this one is nearly in our hands.
With a run of 500, it'll be interesting to see how long they last before selling out. If they go quickly, I'm sure we will get another classic release this year; announced anyway!
I do think that the logical next figure would be the 9th Doctor, but I'd love it to be the 3rd Doctor. Still, the first will always be, the first.

Good point, that does seem to be the most likely choice for the next release but yes, I'd love to see the third Doctor done next too

Wow, sooner than I thought, then. Chinese new year not being until the middle of February this year should hopefully play in our favour, as well.

As for the next Doctor off the Big Chief production line, Nine just feels rather inevitable at this point, though with variant Eleven, a planned variant of Ten that could drop at any time, and Twelve on the way, they might hold off for a bit yet. Then again they might not, too... :lol

I'd be rather surprised if we didn't see another classic era Doctor announced on the heels of the First Doctor's arrival. My money is on Pertwee or Troughton (hoping for the latter, personally), but you never know when they'll throw a curveball (like Davison, perhaps) in.

That said, I fear I'll be waiting quite a long time until my most wanted remaining Doctor (after Troughton), Colin Baker, gets a shot at being made. I fear he'll be relegated to the very end of the line (if it lasts that long), along with McCoy, McGann, and Hurt (if the latter even happens). And even then McGann and McCoy will probably come first. Still, I'm in for whoever they make, and in whatever order, I only hope that the line lasts long enough to get them all made. And if we could get a couple more Doctors made this year then at least we'd be edging past the half way point... Here's hoping.

I would not be surprised at a Hurt figure . CO did theirs, and I think it was their fastest selling figure.
If I had any say at BC, I'd be looking at putting out Hurt sooner rather than later.

If Big Chief are reading these comments....I'd nab a John Hurt Doctor straight away. Great actor, entertaining turn as the Doctor & a cracking looking costume. I wonder if Big Chief plan the releases like this two New Doctor figures (incl variants) to each classic Doctor release to off set the lower editions/appeal?

:exactly: So would I!! :rock

Well CO's also only cost, what? Ten quid or something? And it was actually released during the 50th, in a range that most thought was all but dead and had been replaced by the smaller and less popular 3.75 scale line, so that might have helped matters along a fair bit. Plus they did a pretty good job on it as well, which always helps.

Either way, I'd definitely be happy to buy a Hurt 'War Doctor', it's just one of those things where the longer they wait, the more it seems like one of those releases that will possibly come at the end, rather than any time soon. Unless Hurt's Doctor pops up again on the show in the meantime, then all bets are off.

Like all things, just have to wait and see I suppose.

Ok GP, over to you... Haha! You were right.
That was a year ago, and we are a week or so from 2015, and the shipping of the first Doctor.

Haha...that was so long ago that I forgot the context. Interview cancelled :p

Thanks BCS

Not long now until Hartnell's coming home. :yess:

^ Awesome news :yess: :yess:

Just finished watching 'The Beginning' boxset too so am really excited for this release - I cannot wait to add him to my Doctor Who shelf. :woo

Shot of the production Hartnell with the signature cards for Susan and Ian. The wait for this is getting hard. :tap:

I was wondering if the TARDIS background would be black and white or not. I wonder if they recoloured a black and white picture or if that's the Adventure in Time and Space console?

You're right, the wait is hard. I'm very anxious to get this one in hand.

I was surprised at how big the autograph wallet and signed cards were, I expected something much smaller, to be honest. Pleasantly surprised, mind.

Wonder if there's any chance of them releasing a separate Richard Hurndall head sculpt (with his own name plaque, preferably). He'd never get his own individual release, but a small run sculpt only release ala Stetson Smith and Smiling Tom might work, and might also be a way to sell a few more of the Hartnells into the bargain.

Then again, I suppose the outfit that he wore in the Five Doctors is too different (gloved hands, plain trousers, white shirt and vest, black tie) to really work as a simple 'head swap' for the Hartnell figure for most fans. Although it wouldn't be too hard to kitbash the necessary changes, using that as a base.

Just an idle passing thought while waiting for Hartnell to ship.
