It looks fine to me - maybe I'll feel differently when I have it in hand. I certainly don't think it looks fat!

It's around the jawline and the cheeks, it just takes away the likeness. To me it's nearly as off as Amy. It is surely a far cry from this. It's even missing 10's wild eyes.

I think the likeness is still superb. I hope we can see more pics of the final production figures, soon. We've seen the final outfits and we've seen the final heads, we just haven't seen them together, I believe.

Don't forget, this is what his final production head looks like:

So 100 people are going to get the exclusive at the convention next week? How does that make you guys who preordered months ago feel? I'd be a little annoyed.

That is not bad at all, it retains most of DT's features. :clap

Kind of the same. My order went to processing about 300 days ago, and after all that time, people who probably haven't been loyal customers get to own this first.

I feel that, since we've supported them even in the times they messed up *coughamypondcough* we do deserve to get these before other people.

Also weird to think, the lower the production number, the more it costs to make, even if there's a lot of re-use. I'd think after the Amy Pond disaster they wouldn't have money for these exclusive. Hell, they don't have the cash from 4 and 10 yet. I hope they know what they're doing and not punching an even bigger hole in their wallets. I hope the people at the convention will realize what this figure is and not say "wow, this is SO expensive for a doll". Mind you, you're most likely not dealing with collectors of our sorts.

But hey, if it ends up making them some extra money, good for them. With the issues they've been having, they deserve things to get better for them.

I just don't like your guys preorders put on the back burner in order to get the exclusives finished. That's kind of douchey.

Also, photography can tend to flatten out features, if the lighting isn't perfect.

Thanks for telling us what you've seen there - I don't quite see it myself, but it's hard to tell from the photos we've got and I could be wrong.

Would be nice to see MANY more pics of the production figure.

As for the exclusive it would bother me if I wanted that tie and shirt but as it is I don't. Looking forward to seeing people's photos.

I think he looks fantastic in the photos. We'll have to wait for the in-hand to know for sure.

Tickets for the celebration sold out on the day they went on sale, so this one is only for those lucky few who are going anyway.

Oh and it is not run by MCM but by the Beeb themselves, so overcrowding and packing people in like sardines shouldn't be an issue (one would hope. Not that I managed to get tickets. *gnashing of teeth*.

Well, I stand corrected Mau, thanks for that :hi5:. It's a relief actually, MCM is made up of some folks from the old WOLF 359 days and their conventions were packed to the gills. Even the aforementioned sardines would have been uncomfortable!

This is a first for me but I don't completely buy into their reasoning for doing an extra of Tennant.

The honest answer is that we simply did not know what the response would be, nor did we know whether the figure would sell that strongly or not.

Ten's always been the most popular Doctor, since the revival and is consistent both here and abroad. He's been most's favourite since the revival and even some of the oldWho fans like him pretty well too.

Also, considering it was first set at 250 for the Sig edition, which then went up to 300... that also goes against that a tad.

It took a little over four months for us to completely sell out of the Limited Edition figures as well, so we knew that there would be a number of people who would have missed out and would have loved to have had the chance to purchase a figure.

Four months. I'm sorry, but if they didn't gather enough for the deposit within that amount of time I don't know why offering another 100 does any good now. Surely the main problem was that it was sold purely on the website and fans abroad didn't want to pay as much for it compared to what it would be from a distributor (which another version would go through.) That's what it seemed like anyway, from some discussion on the board. This hardly helps those fans unless they're coming over here for this.

It seemed the most fair way to make the figure available without under-valuing the editions previously sold-out. We decided to make the figure a slight variant too, with the darker blue shirt and floral patterned tie that David Tennant wears in the upcoming episode “The Day of the Doctor”, to air on BBC1 on Saturday 23rd November.

But surely a variant can make the original undervalued. The rarer the item and so on. Some will prefer to get the most limited version they can and that unfortunately is this one.

I'm not really bothered either way by this exclusive, as I've said it'd need the flat hair to gain my interest, but their logic is completely off on this to me.

<<<< Condensed for size >>>>

I don't really see what the problem is here. I have the Signature Edition reserved via deposit and I know that's what I'm getting. This new edition does not come with a signature so why should I feel put off or out or down, or any other directional variant?

And four months does not sound unreasonable either, on a run like this. Have you seen SSC's site, even some of the recent big HT items have been in stock for 2 years and not sold out. Nope that 16 weeks is actually sounding pretty smart to me right about now.

And seriously, who buys these becasue of any value they may or may not achieve? I in no way feel that my Sig Ed #10 is going to be devalued in any way by this...not to me anyway, because I am buying it because I like the figure for what it is, and not as a possible money chest further down the line.

Some figures do retain and increase in value, it's true. But those are usually very few and far between, and are influenced by usually purely temporary factors...like, do we really think there won't be HAWKEYE or NICK FURY v2 figures from The Age Of Ultron?

^^finally in the collect!:yess:

sorry to jump in and interrupt the discussion but have a question for those with 11. i got mine used on ebay and the left leg is wobbly/loose in the upper thigh swivel. can i fix this? is this a common prob?

any help is greatly appreciated! he can stand fine its just annoying x100.

thks :)

I've never seen a problem with the figure beyond the coat. It's too bulky looking. Scaling several layers of 1:6 material down and retaining the right look and feel isn't really doable. HT are getting there, but the material become paper thin, and so fragile. Anyways, the coat comes off and will hang over something as a prop.
The ex bing a 25 per day thing with 25 up for random grabs seems very fair and appropriate.
I do not need one, so I've no axe to grind. I did buy both Smith crash sets coz one had a different shirt on!
I'll give it some thought and I might get my dad to enter his name. The flip side of me says that's not fair as if I do get it, someone else who wanted it won't! I'll see how I feel nearer the time.
Pity that CO went to the wall on their line. They could have had a field day with this new episode and its multitude of doctors, seen 3 so far. 4 if you count young mr. Hurt.

There will apparently be a blue Tennant eventually ANYWAY, so our sig editions were never going to be the ONLY BC Tennant figures.

And the blue suit version will no doubt come with a signature as well.

I never got the CO blue suit figure. Not so fussed anymore that I didn't.
I've been thinking if I'd want a fez 11, and frankly, I wouldn't. So I hope they won't go down that route. A second 11 is a done deal after selling out in 4 months, but it really hope they go for a Snowman or later look, when he got all Victorian and Doctory.
