And the truth is; the times he tried to either talk spanish were cringe-worthy or laughable, and at times, the accent he tried to pull off was either sublime or comedic.

La verdad es, esta pelicula es para personas que le gustan mierda. Trash for trash I pretty much said...

Bueno, que se puede aser? Nada...

Funny thing is, your Spanish is cringeworthy.

Wow. This is all shocking to hear. I never heard this movie get bashed to this degree. Bashed at all for that matter. Maybe The Bride over there is right and it's a matter of being in the NY state of mind.

This is a GREAT f__kin' movie and it has a solid seat in my top ten of all time list. It's been there since I first saw it in 1995 (watched it countless times since) and not much has come along to bump it out. Basically everyone I've ever spoke to about this movie, guy or girl, holds it in high regard.

I guess not liking it can have a lot to do what age, where your from and how you grew up there or if you even like this genre of movie to begin with.

Blitzway can't make this guy fast enough for me. It won't happen but I wish they'd continue with Davey, Bennie, Pachanga and even frigin Lalin!!!! :rock:rock

Everyone's a critic.
And everyone his entitled to his opinion.

Carlito's way i a great film.
Not a masterpiece or anything.
But a very good cop and robber flick.
Way much better than all the **** movies we get nowedays from Hollywood.

Overrated movie...
Plain and simple.

Pacino and his horrible "Puerto Rican" accent. It was bad enough years before he tried a Cuban accent and failed. But at least Scarface was given cult recognition over time with the popularity of ghetto trash who would like to buy jackets with Tony Montana prints, rappers who had to boast about something Scarface in their "crib," and the on-going growth of the movie's fame over time.

Carlito's Way is just bad movie making. You are correct about the arc of Carlito's character and moreover, the foolishness in the writing. The acting is just laughable at times and the shots were just bush-league, grade-school film making.

I like Pacino, and "Dog Day...," or "Serpico" characters in 1/6 form for me would be way more interesting and meaningful when we're trying to place focus and depth in a collection. Well, mine at least.

The best part of the movie too me by far was S.Penn. The movie too me should have been called, "David Kleinfeld's Way" more than "Carlito's."

His story arc was far more interesting, better acted, more entertaining and written better. I don't know if the screen play somehow lost the feel of the novels, yet again, those too me weren't that fascinating either.

In summary, Pacino doing another bad spanish accent just does not do it for me. Yo soy boricua and proud of it... yes, I stated that I'm Puerto Rican. And the truth is; the times he tried to either talk spanish were cringe-worthy or laughable, and at times, the accent he tried to pull off was either sublime or comedic.

It's about some 'thug' on the streets who was jailed and continued to be a complete dope. Nothing redeeming, nothing inspiring and completely overrated. It's funny, why is it people from NY try to defend this movie's "greatness?" When I'm in BK or Queens with my sis and other ghetto fam, they insist that this is a stellar film, but when I talk to other film buffs elsewhere around the country, they trash it left and right and agree with me. It's like there's some sort of attachment with this film by NY, Ricans... And I don't care how many quotes from this movie were attached to Jay-Z albums or used for skits between his tracks. Meh.

Bueno, que se puede aser? Nada...

I am Puerto Rican as well, and it seems to that you were going intro this film already set to bash Pacino's acting. His accent really want supposed to be a straight-up Puerto Rican accent! He was in New York and had a Newyorican accent!. He never was speaking straight Spanish... he was of the streets and spoke Spanglish. Stop taking offense to these films like Scarface, and carlito's way. These are just films... not reality. As a matter if fact... some of the Spanish he spoke sounded better than some I have heard from fluent Latinos.

Bring On Carlito Brigante Blitzway.... my pocket book is ready

The wait is well worth it for what you get in the end Blitzways Scarface blow Enterbay out of the water!!!

Not a chance.... but this Carlito figure is great. If the final product remains the same, then there isn't much room left for improvement. This sculpt looks spot on!

love the figure. Best Pacino likeness but they should have made Heat's Vincent Hanna instead.

I'll vote for also as opposed to instead :wink1:

I hope that they can branch out from doing just Pacino figs and take on other actors. I'd like to see more from this line and I'm dreaming for a Neil/Hanna/Chris Heat trio.

As far as Carlito's accent, maybe I don't have the same dissapointment for it as others because I never interpreted it as trying to be a "Puerto Rican" accent. You want to talk about his attempt at an accent in Scarface...fine. But I live in NY and I know plenty of Puerto Ricans (as well as others with South/Central American backgrounds). Not everyone is the same so not everyone sounds the same. Sure there are a large amount of people that fall into the stereotypical catagories of different "ethnic" accents (God knows I'm a victum. I have a NY Italian accent that makes the Jersey Shore peeps sound like speech therapists :lol). I know Puerto Rican people that have "stereotypical" accents, some have NY accents with little or no hint of ethnicity in it, and some don't have accents at all. And this goes for all ethnic backgrounds. There are A LOT of people here (NY) and not everyone falls into cookie cutter categories. I actually like that he did something different then falling more toward the realm of the "norm" like Bennie and Pachanga (which coincidently are Guzman's and Leguizamo's real voices because they are raised in NY).

I basically meant that I am not buying a figure of a movie I did not like. I have figures of villains from series I like and a lot of those villains are awful people too :dunno

Agreed and fixed :D

Was looking for some more pics but instead I find stupid talk dissing pacino and the film:slap

If you don't like the film don't buy the figure, if you want a serpico or dogs day afternoon one, you might be waiting a long time.

All equally good films.

What's wrong with discussing the film? Calling the conversation "stupid talk" is pretty ridiculous. Both sides have made good points and if anything it was steering the topic to a good direction as it gives us something to talk about till more information on the figure is provided.

But theres a big difference between discussing the film and bashing it. We get it, you don't like it. You said yourself you wont be buying this figure because of that. So....

I basically meant that I am not buying a figure of a movie I did not like.

.....why even bother posting in this thread anymore?:dunno So you can discuss a movie you don't like and a figure you're not going to buy?

Yeah. People generally prefer film talk to go in its own thread in the non-figure section. There'll always be talk of the film, as people talk about the poses they're going to set up, the looks they want, etc, but if you're not going to get the figure or discuss the figure itself, and you've got a negative opinion of the film, it's usually best that you go elsewhere. Otherwise you serve to be nothing but a party pooper. No one likes a party pooper.

:lol:lol:lol

Maybe he came out guns blazin' and it wasn't as diplomatic as could be, but I don't see anything wrong with talking about the film here, whether you're for or against. I'm thinkin' his thread is gonna go dead for a looooong time if we're gonna hold off on posting untill we get an update from BW. Hope I'm wrong though

I disagree. There's a reason you don't find me in the Indiana Jones or Star Wars sections of this site. I don't even hate them but I won't troll the hell out of their threads either and call it a "discussion" :wink1:

Fine if you want to discuss the film but this ain't the section and I don't think you will get many people agreeing with your take on the film.

The brides post is just pure bashing and up its own arse.

I come from the uk and don't identify with carlito or have the same upbringing, but neither do I have anything in common with hannibal lectuer or superman, but still like those characters and films and have a supes in my collection.

I am getting this figure and want more pics not a debate whether the film was credible, important or a good role model, whatever man that is riddiculous:)
