Re: Blitzway - 1/6 & 1/12 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

The Bruce Lee DX was fun back then. They really hyped that up and were so excited in speaking about it.

Do BW have their own booth? I wonder if they'll have even a placard for the next license.

I cannot wait to see pics of these from SDCC. :rock

:exactly: And seeing as KA Kim posted about GB a while back, and she's posted that picture and said she's off to SDCC too, we can assume she did all four head sculpts

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 & 1/12 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I love HT but sometimes they need a kick up the *** to remind them there are still some goldmines out there.

BANDWIDTH.

When you can only do X amount of work, you'd better choose something that's going to return the highest amount of profit. What HT is doing currently returns profit at a rate surely more than an order of magnitude greater than Ghostbusters would. There's simply no comparison between Marvel and Star Wars to anything else. Even DC's Superman/Batman is a goldmine where Ghostbusters would be more aptly compared to finding a few nuggets in a stream. Great money for a small producer to be sure, but for Hot Toys, likely not worth their time. When you look at their other less performing licenses, they choose 1, MAYBE 2, characters. Can't do that with Ghostbusters by any stretch of the imagination.

There are numerous companies doing, or capable of doing, better work than HT - BUT in terms of brand equity and sales... HT has no competition. Which is unfortunate as it leads to the complaints people are voicing all the time.

Now that's a beautiful set....

Based on what?:lol

BW has a stellar track record, really looking forward to seeing what they've come up with (could this FINALLY be the nailing of the GB's headsculpts?:yess:,) but I just don't see anything visible in that pic that's a massive upgrade on the Matty releases so far.

Do the proton packs seem just a tad small to anybody else? I'm not a huge GB expert (other than just really loving the movie) but I always kinda got the impression they were a bit bigger than that. Or maybe it just seemed that way.

They do, but it's possible the Matty ones were a bit oversized though.

The other issue is how they release these. All at once costing say $1k will cause some problems for buyers. But if they offer some exclusive to induce buying all 4 at once directly from blitzway is certainly advantageous to them. Thinking about it theres a little strategy going on regarding release.

You have to wonder about that. It's one thing for $60 Matty figs - buy all four for under $250 - but what non-GB obsessive (ie. someone who just has a range of iconic figs in the Detolf) really wants to/will pay $250 for Winston? Everyone wants Venkman, but it falls off fast from there.

:( Poor Winston.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 & 1/12 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Yeah, even with no frontal details we know the scale is going to be better, the hands more refined, the boots much much nicer, the flight suits better tailored and of a higher quality, the elbow pads about 100 times nicer and more screen accurate, and the packs are fancier at least w the blue led lights, paint detail, and better scaled, shorter length hose. We can also infer from everything else Blitzway has done that the sculpts will be way way nicer, with paint apps beating what you would expect from HT, the body will be solid, and the details like the gizmo, walkie talkies, patches, etc. on their belts will be great.

For $60 matty did a great job with gear and unis. Bodies were ok. But for $60 it was a great deal.

I would say they were fairly priced. But I used their gear as the basis for my customs which I still love. They did a really good job on that front.

I did the same- kept the gear and clothing and put on spencer sculpts with a HT TT body. and sold the matty bodies and heads for ~$15 ea.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 & 1/12 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Would be wesome if the proton pack had the start up sound effect :)

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 & 1/12 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

$250 a fig is rather expensive, seeing fight club is cheaper, but the proton pack probably added some cost.

hope they can have quattro pack which is cheaper.

I'm in, pretty sure (as I first posted) A.K. did the sculpts -- when you guys see them you will probably lose it. There is no sculptor better at capturing expressions, can't wait for the reveal.

Set will prolly be 1k ( 250 each) which is what they priced for the Tyler single.

K.a.kim is amazing at her art, alot of my hot toy figures are her work

This WILL be the best 1/6 GB figure set ever made (... so far)

Also one of the only (official) 1/6 Ghostbusters sets ever made, so that's not a big surprise. :lol
