It's really quite amusing to see that at the start of the thread most people were excited about a new player in the 12 Inch Figures arena and were singing praises about how great the figure was but towards the end lots of people were cursing and swearing about the wrong belt colour etc...
I agree that it is quite a big thing to miss out but I'm still keeping an open mind for more figures from Blitzway...
I was mostly just trolling. . . but definitely giving them some ____ because hell, everybody else treats every other company like ____. I've noticed a distinct lack of ____ thrown at these guys since their arrival. I just wanted to give them a proper Freaks welcome.
There are two things I've noticed
A) A LOT of the people who posted in this thread originally aren't here anymore. . . too long of a wait?? People lost interest??
B) Most of the people posting in the thread now are outside of the US. . . because US retailers haven't shipped him out yet?? Perhaps, but you'd think there'd be some US-based folks in here, chomping at the bit, looking at all the pics. I got mine already, but I don't know what everyone else's excuse is.
I don't know, just a few curious things I noticed. Also, the Blitzway fanboy who joined the forum to say this figure is way cheap compared to a HT fig and it comes with the perfect amount of accessories.
Which are probably the two biggest drawbacks to this figure.
It's extremely expensive compared to what you get. Everyone's been posting pics of him with HT Godfather, and even though Vito came out a few years ago, he blows Tony away in terms of value. Granted much of that cost of Tony is due to the new body, but I'm not sure Blitzway wants to limit itself to doing characters which are smaller in stature. I'm curious if they plan on doing a new body for each new figure they release, if any. And if that's the case you can count on them taking 2 years to release one figure again and it being MORE expensive next time around. These guys just MIGHT give Hot Toys a run for their money as far as increasing the price of this hobby.
And honestly, they're not going to top HT unless Sideshow starts distributing their stuff. THAT'S how Hot Toys got big. And I'm not sure if HT will respond well to SS distributing Blitzway. If SS even WANTS to distribute Blitzway. Either way, in this case, competition won't push prices down, it will only push prices up. 1/6 scale is a niche market, those sorts of economic factors don't really work in this case. You see more and more bootleggers and 1/6 companies entering the market, and what's happened?? Figure prices have quadrupled.
