Just another things that proves the DVD will not be gone in 3 years. I have a friend who manages a video rental place, and guess what they still have and still rent quite a bit. VHS, yes I said VHS, remember those things.:lol

I can wait for the dust to settle and for prices to come down. My upconverting DVD player is doing the job nicely. Some movies look better than those broadcast on TNT HD and other HD movie channels.

Before I bought my new DVD player, I researched the crap out of upconverting and found there are many players that just don't do that great of a job, so upconverting kinda gets a bad rep. Also, some people don't realize virtually all upconverting players only upconvert via HDMI, if you have it hooked up via component, it won't upconvert without a hack.

Agreed, although I did purchase the xbox 360 HD-DVD player for $155 and will be getting a PS3 soon. I also recently purchased an OPPO 970. I installed the firmware hack and can now upconvert standard dvd via component. It also has been set to region free.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my entire dvd collection all over again, especially the superbit titles.

One thing of interest in this war. Costco is now selling HD-DVD players. This could help the sales. It cracks me up how often people will buy it since its at costco. Now if they could just start to carry the movies.

So when is Costco going to start selling mail order brides? :lol
